Dear Colleagues,

As we move through our strategic planning process, we have consistently received feedback that individual mentoring has a great impact on the student experience and the sense of connectedness among our Drexel Engineering community.

I encourage you to take advantage of this new opportunity to support our future women engineering students from the city of Philadelphia. Our college in collaboration with the Academy of Natural Sciences is launching a new initiative, Engineering WINS (EngWINS) to target 9th and 10th grade girls who come from underserved populations and demonstrate an interest and aptitude in natural science and engineering.

Hosted by the ANS of Drexel University, and in partnership with the Philadelphia Education Fund, the initiative includes curriculum development, student internships, and student and mentor professional development. We are seeking a total of 12 mentors to supervise EngWINS students in their labs, research sites, or other types of engineering worksites. Mentors will receive training, a stipend, and the opportunity to make a significant impact on girls in STEM.
