It is with deep sadness that the San Francisco Interfaith Council (SFIC) has learned of the passing of Founding Board Member Father Ken Westray. At the time of his passing Father Ken was the Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Church in the Marina District of San Francisco. Father Ken was a visionary priest who served several terms on the San Francisco Interfaith Council Board of Directors, including the very first Board. A former Merchant Marine before entering seminary, Father Ken was among those clergy whose compassion for the suffering of others, early in the epidemic, brought spiritual strength and comfort to those battling a new disease called AIDS. He was a kind and gentle soul who selflessly cared for the poor and fought for civil and human rights. He will be remembered by the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Church for his many years of faithful service as their Pastor. We extend heartfelt condolences to both Father Ken's family as well as the St. Vincent de Paul Church community. We share the following memorial testimony issued by His Excellency Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of the Archdiocese of San Francisco that appeared in the most recent communication of Catholic Charities.   All who are able are encouraged to join in worship via livestream on Tuesday,
June 30, 2020 at 11:00 am. May his memory be eternal!

          Sincerely yours in our Lord,

          Most Reverend Salvatore J. Cordileone
