Client Alert: California Expands Red Flag Law
January 28, 2020
To address the tragic rise in mass shootings and other acts of gun violence, many states, including California, are enacting so-called “red flag laws,” which allow individuals to obtain restraining orders to remove firearms from an individual deemed by the courts to be a threat to themselves or others.

California has amended its red flag law, expanding the criteria for those who may apply for a gun violence restraining order to include employers, coworkers and teachers.

The new law takes effect September 1, 2020. Please review this Engage Client Alert for details, and contact your HR Consultant if you have any questions.
