The Cedar Valley Nonprofit’s annual conversation with our elected officials is a great opportunity to let your voice be heard directly by those representing the greater Cedar Valley. The event is timed just prior to the legislative session and it offers a chance to have real conversations about decisions that are being discussed in Des Moines and how they have impacts on the daily lives of Black Hawk County representatives. Presented in an intimate format, the annual Legislative Forum helps keep our representatives informed about the nonprofit sector and the people we serve. It’s a don’t miss event!

CEO Network

If you’re a CEO/ Executive Director of a service providing organization (not grantmaking organization), we’d love for you to join our CEO Network!

The purpose of this network is to build stronger relationships, explore new partnerships, share expertise and solve community issues. There will not be a formal agenda or presentation. You, as CEOs, will build the agenda the day of the meeting to address pertinent & timely topics.

Volunteer Center of the Cedar Valley VALU Trainings - Upcoming Session!

When: Wednesday, November 17 from 9 – 10:00 a.m. 
Topic: Planning for Volunteer Engagement in Intent
Where: Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, Community Room

The Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley’s (VCCV) main goal is to promote and support effective volunteerism! Through partnership with hundreds of community organizations and events, the VCCV provides resources, leaderships, and training opportunities to assist organizations in leveraging volunteer’s time and talents to build the important mission work of the sector.
 
The VCCV regularly leads the VALU trainings as a way for volunteer engagement professionals to network with one another, share best practices, hone their skills, and learn about new and innovative ways to build opportunities and grow volunteer programs.

This networking group meets monthly.

Black Hawk County Gaming Association Funding Grant Info Session

When: Tuesday, November 30th at 9:00am
Where: Isle Casino Ballroom

Come learn about the Black Hawk County Gaming Association funding structure and grantmaking process. This meeting will give potential applicants the chance to ask questions and hear more about the specific projects our Board of Directors tend to favor.
 
This is highly recommended to organizations who plan to apply for BHCGA funding in the next year.

From October 1 – January 3 the Guernsey Charitable Foundation office is open by appointment only. Those wishing to get hold of the foundation or schedule an appointment can call 319-226-3434 and leave a message. If you wish to schedule an appointment for after the new year, you can do so any time by using this link. As a reminder, the deadline for the spring grant cycle is March 15th and the application is available via the online system, which can be found at www.guernseyfoundation.com/apply.

What's Fair? Exploring Social Justice in America - Free Online Course

Social justice is complicated. No matter what your personal, professional or community roles are, the topic is difficult to pin down. This short course helps you explore social justice using a broad lens, including race and ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, birthplace, economic status, history, education and politics.

Executive Director

The Executive Director is responsible for the administration of Family & Children’s Council. The ED must have a widespread understanding of child abuse statistics in Black Hawk County, stay up-to-date on child abuse cases and be well versed in current and pending child abuse laws on the state, regional and national levels. 

Administrative Assistant

This position is responsible for supporting two departments in providing excellent customer service, maintaining customer confidence and protecting operational integrity by keeping information confidential, and providing support for a variety of special projects, committees, functions, and activities.
