MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL TIM PETERSEN
Dear Antonian Parents,

Earlier this week, you should have received a letter from Ms. Marti West, Superintendent of Catholic Schools for the Archdiocese of San Antonio, concerning plans to open Catholic schools for the 2020-2021 school year in light of the COVID-19 circumstances. Over the last few days, I have received inquiries about Antonian's specific plans for reopening in August. I wish I could tell you with absolute certainty, exactly what that reopening would look like. I have told our faculty and staff that dealing with this pandemic is a little like playing darts in the dark...and the dart board keeps moving.

So, here is what I can tell you:

We have every intention of beginning the school year with faculty and students fully on campus. Since schools closed in the spring, we have been preparing for the day Antonian would open for the 2020-2021 school year. Those plans require measures to allow for a seamless transition in and out of distance learning if required to meet the health concerns of the pandemic.

Antonian follows the guidelines of the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB ED), which works closely with the office of Governor Greg Abbott and public health authorities. We are monitoring and following public health ordinances and civic direction. As the pandemic is an evolving situation, Antonian is preparing for multiple scenarios:

Full Return to Campus
It is our hope that Antonian will resume classes as normal -- 100% on campus. This would certainly be our first choice. This scenario would include entrance protocols and cleaning protocols.

Hybrid Model
If returning to school requires that we limit the number of students on campus in order to meet social distancing requirements, we will adopt a hybrid model. We are currently looking at a model where approximately 50% of our students -- freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors -- would be on campus each day. On the alternating days, students would be engaged in distance learning. In this model, students would attend classes in-person every other day.

This model would allow us to reduce class sizes by 50% and reduce students in the cafeteria by 50%. This scenario will include entrance protocols, cleaning directives, social distancing, high-quality instruction both in-person and online, providing socio-emotional support for students, and continuing to engage in the faith community. This plan would also provide the ability to serve students who are sick or have been exposed to the virus and subject to quarantine.

Distance Learning
If local authorities restrict schools from gathering in-person, Antonian will resume distance learning. This scenario includes delivering high-quality instruction online, and continuing to provide socio-emotional support to students, and maintaining the faith community.

Some parents have expressed a concern for vulnerable members of their family, prompting the request for the option of distance learning rather than a requirement for in-person attendance. We are working to provide this option.

Please feel free to share your thoughts and suggestions with us.

It's a great day to be an Apache!

Roll Tribe!

Blessings,
Tim Petersen

RANK ONE
Rank One is the platform for all Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools (TAPPS) compliance paperwork. This system is used for all students who participate in TAPPS-sanctioned athletic, fine arts, and/or academic competitions. As a result, all parents of students participating in these related organizations must register their child's information before the student can participate.

Forms for the 2020-2021 school year are now available on Rank One. Information for all Antonian students has been preloaded.  Please click this  link   to follow instructions to complete registration for your required parent portal.

Once you have created your parent portal login, you will need to enter your child's birth date (MM/DD/YYYY) to link with their account. Please continue to "Start Forms." Initially, you will see that your child(ren) will be out of compliance. Click the grey "VIEW" box next to your child's name in order to complete the required forms. Only complete the section that reads "Electronic Documents to be submitted by the parent."

UNIFORM AND BOOK DONATIONS

Each year, Antonian hosts a used uniform and textbook sale.
The proceeds of any items sold by Antonian go to the Campus Ministry department to help defray costs of the IHS and Kairos off-campus retreats, helping to keep retreats as affordable as possible.

The inventory for these sales come from the generosity of families who have uniforms that are in good condition, but no longer needed (e.g., seniors' uniforms, outgrown items) and textbooks which families don't wish to return in buyback or sell at the textbook sale themselves.

These items can be brought to our Director of Campus Ministry, Megan Diaz, every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. through the end of June.

Please ensure that any uniforms to be donated are clean when donating them.

A million thanks to the families, staff, alumni and friends that have donated to our Families Helping Families campaign to aid with financial assistance during COVID-19.  Through your generosity we have helped over 30 families that were directly impacted by this pandemic with either a reduction in wages or loss of jobs all together.  It is amazing to see the out-pour of support & love for our Antonian families by other Antonian families!
