An in-person episode of 'How it's Made' on a topic that everyone can get excited about: cookies! JK students visited the Mrs. Hanes Moravian Cookie Factory to see how cookies are made and distributed, from the rolling of the dough to their packaging in tins and tubes. They also learned the history of the company, saw the original stove Mrs. Hanes learned to bake on as a little girl, and asked thoughtful questions about the process.

All Aboard for Bloom in Transit, March 28
|
On March 28 Salisbury Academy will hold our 11th annual Bloom Gala,
Bloom in Transit. We hope that you will mark this on your calendar and join us for a memorable evening!
Bloom supports our school's exceptional programming and service outreach and helps bridge the gap in operating expenses between tuition and the actual cost of an SA education.
|
|
As one opportunity to get involved in Bloom,
event hosts
play an important role in making this event possible. Several host levels are available and this year come with fun, new perks including priority "boarding" and reserved seating.
Additionally, our live auction features a variety of experiences, from travel adventure, to dining, to entertainment. As we build this year's exciting auction offerings, we welcome and greatly appreciate any items that you would like to donate! Examples from past auctions include beach house stays, hotel/spa/golf resort reservations, and concert tickets.
If you or anyone you know is interested in becoming a host or would like to participate through a donation to our live auction, please contact
Tracey Baird in SA's Development Office to learn more.
Warm Regards,
Beverly Fowler, Head of School

Catawba Student Brings New Perspectives to Middle School Theatre Rotations
|
|
|
Catawba senior Jameson Clanton is sharing his theatrical knowledge and talents with SA's middle school students in this year's arts rotations. A major in theatre education with a minor in math, Jameson shares that he is excited to energize the students and help them develop an appreciation for theatre and the many aspects that create the full experience: lighting, costumes, script-writing, delivery, casting, and more.
In his work with the seventh grade, Jameson has covered improvisation and set design and shares that he looks forward to working in other concepts that the students are curious about.
|
|
"Ultimately I'm tailoring the classes to what the students are most interested in. I want to be sure that they get the most out of the time we have together," says Jameson.
Jameson is also weaving plays and literary works that the students are reading or have read into his theatre lessons. In this week's class with seventh grade, students discussed the key themes of
Romeo and Juliet, the play they are currently reading, and designed their own unique sets for the play.
