"Careful Where You Point that Finger!"
Luke: 13:1-9

It has become almost fashionable to blame everything that is wrong or difficult in life on someone or something else. We love to engage in finger–pointing. People have been doing that since creation began. Things were no different in Jesus’ day, especially among the religious “elite,” who believed that God punished those who did not live sterling lives, and rewarded those who kept the Law.

But Jesus made his listeners realize that some of life’s tragedies (and rewards as well) are simply events that are unrelated to behavior. Life’s challenges come from our separation from God, which means we need repentance. This applies to everyone, regardless of station in life. God offers second chances, and we should take him up on the offer, because the time we have may be limited.

Blessings in Christ,
Mo. Allison+

O gracious Master, infuse in our hearts the spotless light of Your Divine Wisdom and open the eyes of our mind that we may understand the teachings of Your Gospel. Instill in us also the fear of Your blessed commandments, so that having curbed all carnal desires, we may lead a spiritual life, both thinking and doing everything to please You. For You, O Christ, our God, are the enlightenment of our souls and bodies; and to You we render glory, together with Your eternal Father, and with Your all holy, life-creating Spirit, now and ever, and forever.

A Time for Quiet Repentance
Be content to go on quietly. When you discover something in yourself that is earthly and imperfect, be patient while you strive to cast it out. Your perceptions will grow; at first, God will show you a very obvious stumbling–block; be diligent in clearing these away, and do not aim at heights to which you are not yet equal. Leave all to God, and while you earnestly desire that He would purify your intention, and seek to work with Him to that end, be satisfied with the gradual progress He sets before you; and remember that He often works in ways unseen by us.
Thank you for your continued support
