CHLORPYRIFOS BAN POSSIBLE
BY DECEMBER 31, 2020
In a December 10, 2019 Governor Cuomo veto message, he directed the Department of Environmental Conservation to develop regulations to ban, as soon as possible, the use of chlorpyrifos except for spraying apple tree trunks that will be banned by July 2021. The DEC announced at a recent Integrated Pest Management meeting that manufacturers were sent a Notice of Intent to cancel registrations by December 31, 2020.

As an advisory, if DEC promulgates regulations to ban chlorpyrifos with an effective date of December 31, 2020, chlorpyrifos cannot be sold, distributed, or used in New York State as of January 1, 2021.
