Saint Michael Catholic School National Day of Giving
Saint Michael Catholic School is pleased to participate in the online giving campaign: Many Gifts, One Nation: A Day of Giving to Catholic Schools. This event is scheduled for January 28, 2020 to January 29, 2020. This is a time for individuals to give to their local Catholic school. By leveraging social media, this national day of philanthropy and camaraderie will invite all people, across the country, who have been impacted by Catholic school education in ways big and small to financially donate. Please support Saint Michael Catholic School and share this information with your friends and family!!

Day of giving begins at 12PM (EST) on Tuesday, January 28th and ends at 12PM (EST) Wednesday, January 29th. Please consider donating to our school. Any donation is greatly appreciated!!!
SMCS Archery Team - First Tournament
The St. Michael Archery Team competed in their first tournament Saturday, January 18, 2020 making school history. Thirteen Archers competed ranging from 4th-8th grade. We are very proud of each of them.

SMCS SPELLING BEE WINNERS!
Last week students in grades 4-8 competed for the Sun News Regional Spelling Bee. The Winners of the SMCS spelling bee are: First Place - Madyson Fenderbosch (8th grade) and Runner up - Ava Reyes (6th grade).  Madyson will now advance to compete in the Sun News Regional Spelling Bee on March 7, 2020 at 3pm at St. James High School Auditorium. Congratulations to both girls!! 
Weekend Masses
Parents of Students who are singing at the Masses Jan 25th & 26th:
STUDENTS MUST WEAR THEIR DRESS UNIFORMS!!!!! (except those who will be acolytes).

There will be a reserved area on the left hand side of the church for students who are singing ONLY. Parents should bring their child to the reserved area prior to the beginning of Mass and should pick them up following the Mass in the reserved area. Before we sing, Mr. Cierzan will be speaking briefly.

Mr. Martin has approved Fair Share Hours for those who participate.
Annual Soup Bowl
Fundraiser
Each family received 5 tickets in total to purchase or sell for the upcoming Soup Bowl Fundraiser.

We ask that you please return payment for your tickets (or any unsold tickets) no later than Tuesday, January 28th!

Please keep in mind that we still need parent volunteers (i.e. servers, runners, soup pick up, clean up, bake sale, and ticket sales) to name a few.

The PTO will host a Bake Sale table at the Soup Bowl. WE need families to bring in homemade items. Please see the items we are looking for below. If you would like to send in other items we will gladly accept them. Keep in mind those with food allergies (gluten free, sugar free, peanut free, etc.) All items MUST BE INDIVIDUALLY WRAPPED AND LABELED. Items can be dropped off in the Duffy Center Thursday, January 30th and Friday January 31st. One Fair Share Hour in total for your baked goods donation!

1st Grade: pastries
2nd Grade: cupcakes
3rd Grade: mini cakes, pies, or a loaf of bread (i.e. pumpkin, banana, lemon bars)
4th Grade: cookies
5th Grade: cupcakes

7th Grade: mini cakes pies, or a loaf of bread (i.e. pumpkin, banana, lemon bars)
8th Grade: cans of soda or bottled water

We are also asking any families who are able to donate a case of soda or bottled water for the Soup Bowl to please drop it off in the school office or in Duffy Center. Please place your name on your donation so that you will also receive one Fair Share Hour (FSH) credit.
Any parents that would like to purchase their child/(ren's) hand painted soup bowl, please complete the form that went home in a previous Tuesday Envelope along with your payment. Any of the bowls that are not purchased prior to January 30th will be available for purchase to the general public at our Soup Bowl Event on January 31st.

The cost to parents for the hand painted bowls are: 1 for $20; 2 for $35 or 3 for $50. Any bowls sold to the general public the day of the event will be sold for $20 per bowl.
The Soup Bowl is quickly approaching. If you haven't purchased your tickets yet they are still available in the School and Church Offices. For those families who need Fair Share Hours for 3rd quarter this is the perfect time to sign up and get in your hours. Again, there will be several areas for volunteering (i.e. servers, runners, soup pick up, clean up, bake sale, and ticket sales) to name a few. This fundraiser is a fun and tasty way to support our school and to enjoy the fellowship with parishioners and SMCS families and friends. We will also continue selling tickets after all Masses the weekend of January 24th & 25th, 2020. There will be two seatings offered, 12pm - 2pm (lunch seating) and 5pm - 8pm (dinner seating). Tickets are $13.00 each or (2) for $25.00. Tickets will also be available at the door for $14.00 each. Admission includes samples of soup from local restaurants, bread and butter, and water or tea.

Soft drinks (i.e. soda, bottled water, etc.) will also be for sale by the 8 th grade class for their upcoming class trip. The PTO will also be sponsoring a bake sale.
Show your NFL team spirit!!
Sponsor a table at this year’s soup bowl and decorate it in your favorite NFL team’s colors. 

Entry is $25 per table and you provide your own decor. You will be decorating a 60” round table with 8 chairs. Please provide a tablecloth and decor in your teams colors/memorabilia. However, keep in mind that there are no reserved tables. Anyone is permitted to sit at the decorated tables.

Decorating will take place Thursday, (1/30) from 7pm-9pm or Friday, (1/31) from 8am-11am. 

Please note that space is needed at each place setting to allow guests to enjoy the delicious soup.

Earn a dress down day for Monday, January 27th. Student Council has decorated and placed cardboard boxes outside each classroom for donations for All 4 Paws. Students are asked to bring dog food, cat food, and other pet care supplies for the animal rescue shelter. The class who brings the greatest number of items will win a dress down day. They will also be invited to accompany Student Council on a field trip to All 4 Paws at the end of the school year. We will take this field trip after school hours as students from different classes are on Student Council. A wish list has been sent home with items that are needed. All donations are due no later than January 31st.
