Beacons of Light Update - Pastor Assignment Change

A change was made to pastor assignments that impacts our family of parishes. Beginning July 1st, Father Steve Angi will be the pastor to our family.

Pope Francis recently appointed Father Earl Fernandes as Bishop-elect for the Diocese of Columbus, Ohio. Through the Beacons of Light process, Father Fernandes was slated to be the pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola Church. Father Thomas Mannebach will now serve as pastor of St. Ignatius Loyola beginning July 1st. Father Mannebach had been announced as the pastor to lead our family of parishes which includes, Guardian Angels, Immaculate Heart of Mary and St. John Fischer.

Archbishop Schnurr has appointed Father Steven Angi as the pastor of our family of parishes beginning July 1st. Father Angi currently serves as Archdiocesan Chancellor, Vicar General, and Directory of Executive Services. Father Angi was ordained in 1985 and has served a number of parishes including St. Louis Church in downtown Cincinnati and Holy Family Parish in East Price Hill.

Our family of parishes will also have three Parochial Vicars, Father Thomas King, Father Alex Biryomumeisho and Father Thomas Ebong.
First Holy Communion

Congratulations to the 41 Second Graders of our parish who are receiving our Lord for the first time today! May God continue to bless them with His everlasting mercy and love.
Head Servers

Special thanks to our 2021-2022 Head Servers for their ministry in our church—Lauren Beiser, Louis Smith, Gavin Spitzmueller, and Kaelin Timko. May God continue to bless and keep them close to Him as they embark on new adventures.
Bid-N-Buy and Major Awards Raffle Coming In June

Our Bid-N-Buy auction and Major Awards raffle are returning this June! These two events will culminate the weekend of June 10-12.

This will be a stand-alone fundraiser with the auction conducted completely online; there is no in-person festival.

Major Awards
Major Awards raffle tickets were mailed to parishioners' homes and are available to purchase in the rectory. The grand prize for Major Awards is $12,500! A winner will be drawn on June 12th.

Tickets will also be sold after Masses on the following dates:
  • June 4th and 5th
  • June 11th and 12th

We will have three early bird drawings this month:
  • May 15: $250
  • May 22: $150
  • May 29: $100

Bid-N-Buy
Here's how can you help our Bid-N-Buy:
  1. Check out the Amazon Wish List. Put your online shopping skills to good use! You can always donate an Amazon gift card in any amount, and we will use it towards our bigger items. Click here to view the list.
  2. Festival tags are set up in front of the kitchen in the gathering space if you visit the church. Take a tag and return it with your donation. Don't forget to include your name so we know who to thank! Gift cards are needed for entertainment, restaurants, and shopping.
  3. Donate lottery tickets in any amount.
  4. Do you have season tickets to local sports events? Can you spare a couple of tickets? We would love to offer tickets to the Reds, Bengals, FC Cincinnati, UC, XU, Ohio State, Notre Dame, UD, etc.
  5. Do you have an experience you can offer? Maybe a tour of your small business or you have a contact with someone at a restaurant, brewery, or factory?
  6. Send in a cash/check donation to the rectory. Please make your check out to Guardian Angels and mark your check as "Bid-N-Buy Donation."

The deadline for returning donations is June 1, but sooner is better! Registration for online bidding will be open May 22.

This remains our parish’s largest fundraiser with proceeds providing operating support for our parish and its parish service organizations. Our hope is that every parish family will participate in this event through donating auction items, bidding on items, and/or purchasing raffle tickets.

Where: Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Room B in the undercroft or by zoom

No religious expertise or background required. Contact Brice Berger at bberger@gaparish.org for additional information.
Fathers Team

Each Friday, Fathers Team will be meeting for Fathers Team "Lite” which consists of review and discussion of the upcoming Sunday's scripture readings. All GA fathers are invited to join either in person or via Zoom. Our meeting will start at 6:05am Friday morning and last for one hour. Together we explore the readings and consider how the scripture's message can be applied to our daily lives. If you are holding back because you’re not an expert, join the crowd....neither are any of us! Join us in person in the Undercroft (Conference Room B), or by Zoom, this Friday at 6:05 am. Contact us at GAfathersteam@gmail.com for the zoom information, or to get on the GA Fathers Team email distribution.
Bible Camp is Back This Summer!

North Castle is hidden in a frozen land. The King’s valiant Knights are on a quest in search of the King’s Armor. But the armor isn’t what they think it is.
Knights of North Castle: Quest for the King’s Armor, invites children to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power by exploring how we put on the armor of God. Kids will take on the role of brave Knights and begin their quest each session by opening the King’s Book.

GA’s Bible Camp runs from Monday, June 20 through Thursday, June 23 from 9:00am until 12pm.

Click here for more information. All registrations are due by May 25th; please fill out one for each child. Registrations received after May 25th will incur a $5 late fee

We are also in need of incoming 7th grade, 8th grade and high school volunteers. Click here for details about volunteering.
Camp GAudeo Help Is Needed

Thanks to an unprecedented response to Camp GAudeo (June 27-July 1), we have over 120 students in grades 4-7 registered for our week of fun. Now we have a great need for adequate adult chaperone assistance for each day of camp. The Youth Ministry team is asking families to consider if there is an adult in your household who could commit to a day (or more) to help with this important ministry. Volunteers are needed from 8:00am-5:00pm each day. Adult chaperones act as liaisons for high school counselor leaders and offer supervision for activities under the direction of the youth minister. Contact Bradley Barnes in the Youth Ministry Office if you have any questions, or sign up at this link.
GA Mugs Available For Purchase

The Welcome Committee is selling Guardian Angels mugs for $7, while supplies last. If you would like to purchase a #GAIsFamily mug, just click here. Mugs must be picked up at the rectory during business hours. The parish office is open 8:30am-3:00pm Monday-Friday.

School News
Enrollment Open For 2022-2023 School Year

Enrollment is now open for all students entering preschool through eighth grade for the 2022-2023 school year. You'll find all the information you need on the school website.

If you are interested in learning more about our school, we invite you to take a personal tour. A tour allows you to meet with our administration to discuss the classes and programs available through GA and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. These are typically done during school hours so you can see what a typical day is like for students. Call the school office at (513)624-3141 to schedule a tour.
School Playground Hours

As the weather begins to warm up, we want to remind everyone of the hours of operation for our new playground equipment. The portion of the new playground that was installed in the fall sits outside the area where our old equipment sat. Since it is outside the mulch area and is now closer to other property lines, the portion of the equipment with the slide CANNOT be used outside of the posted playground operating hours. Those hours are 8:00am-6:00pm.
