Prayer of the Week
For Thanksgiving
Almighty and gracious Father, we give you thanks for the fruits of the earth in their season and for the labors of those who harvest them. Make us, we pray, faithful stewards of your great bounty, for the provision of our necessities and the relief of all who are in need, to the glory of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Treasurer’s report
The Treasurer reported that October was in line with the budget but with income down a bit. Plate offerings are ahead of budget and a positive sign that people are behind the direction we are taking. He reported that prepaid pledges for 2020 are approximately $75,000, a good sign for this time of year. A discussion was held concerning proposed changes to the balance sheet to consolidate several reserve accounts. This was referred to the Finance committee for further review. A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously to approve the Treasurer’s report.
CPC Application update
It was reported that the Community Preservation Committee will recommend granting the full amount of our request, $218,700, to the annual Town Meeting in April, 2020.
Resolution for Cape Cod Five Checking/Money Market account
His resolution will authorize the chair of the Finance committee, Sandra Keys, to sign checks on this account. A motion was made, seconded and approved unanimously to adopt Resolution 2019-11-1.
Fellowship committee report
Yvette St. Jean said that the newcomers will be included in the winter dinners held at various homes in January and February. She noted that the Octoberfest was well-received and the committee plans to hold it again next year. The Stroll concert and preview party will be held on Friday, December 6th followed by the Stroll Christmas Market on Saturday, December 7th. The annual Christmas luncheon will be held on Sunday, December 15th following the service.
Priest-in-Charge Comments
Pam Goddard said Fr. Max was unable to call in because of poor cell phone reception from Block Island, However, he did send a message thanking the committees for all their recent work.
Stewardship update
The committee has been meeting to follow the results of the campaign so far. 120 pledges have been received to date, including 20 new pledges, and 50% of those submitted show an increase over the previous year. The total for all pledges is $267,000 and the summary results are posted in the Narthex.
Other Business
Libby Tracey reported on the 234th Diocesan annual convention held on November 2nd.

2020 Stewardship Campaign Update
As of this week, we have received 123 pledge cards pledging about $280,000. Thank you to those parishioners who have sent a card in already, and thank you to those who will send one in. We continue to solicit commitments this week and through the end of the year. Our goal is pledge income of $350,000 a year within the next three years, which should allow us to expand our outreach and ministries according to our mission: to make the love of God more widely known in Nantucket. The trends look promising: so far, the average pledge for 2020 is $2,276, compared to $1,930 for 2019 -
an 18% increase.
You can mail in your pledge card at any time by the end of the year, as well as contribute online at our website through a secure link. We also have extra brochures and pledge cards on the table at the back of the church. In the event that you choose to pay your pledge with a gift of stock, please inform the Treasurer of the number of shares and the name of the security that you are donating. We ask for this because our broker - Commonwealth Securities - informs us only of the securities we receive, not the name of the donor. Some of you also may be eligible to make a contribution through a tax-advantaged IRA distribution; ask your financial advisor for details. Once again, you can adjust your 2020 pledge or gift up or down if your circumstances change. For more information on giving to St. Paul’s, please visit us at http://stpaulschurchnantucket.org/giving/. Again, thank you, and please give generously.

Wednesday Holy Eucharist
Holy Eucharist, Wednesdays at 8:30 am in the Chapel.
Thursday Bible Study Group
Based on the Lectionary:
readings from Scripture appointed to be read the following Sunday.
St. Paul’s Bible Study Group meets on Thursdays,
11:30am–12:30pm in the Parish House. Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary!
Centering Prayer Group
Saturdays, 9am–10am in the Parish House
Facilitated by Sr. Susanna Margaret, OSB
Rooted in the prayer tradition of the Psalms where we are reminded, “Be still and know that I am God” (Ps. 46:10), Centering Prayer is a simple, wordless way of praying that makes space for simply being with God and becoming more deeply aware of His presence.
Children’s Advent Series
Wednesday Dec. 4, 11, 18 in the Parish House from 5:30pm-7:30pm
Join Sr. Susanna as we explore
The Redemption
of Scrooge . This Advent series invites us to enter into the pathos of Charles Dickens'
A Christmas Carol,
to discover anew the healing power of God’s grace. As we spiritually consider our past, present, and future, may we, like Ebenezer Scrooge, recommit ourselves to kindness and living with a generous spirit in today’s world of haves and have-nots.
Join us for a lesson, activity and discussion. Dinner will be served.
