A Great Start to the 2018 - 2019 School Year!

We are so grateful to have started the school year with so many returning volunteers. It's heartwarming to see the looks on our students faces when they are reunited with their mentors in the new school year. Also, a huge thank you to all our new

National Read to a Child Day 2019

Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh and Boston Red Sox World Series champion Manny Delcarmen read in Boston, MA.
On our inaugural National Read to a Child Day on October 8th, 2019 we brought special guest readers to close to 1,000 students in schools and special locations across the country and many students brought books home with them! So many more students and children celebrated across the country thanks to longtime and brand new supporters excited about solving the literacy crisis in our country.

Students in Rhode Island celebrating National Read to a Child Day.
We were overwhelmed by the creative and funny ideas people across the country had to encourage kids to read. We saw a child reading in a closet, school administration reading to students over intercoms, and so much more. We even had a school in Rhode Island host a "Fall Into Reading" event and watch our live stream read aloud event in Los Angeles with Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley and Scholastic author and Super Bowl Champion Malcolm Mitchell! Over 115,000 people viewed this special Facebook Live event!

NASCAR Driver Garrett Smithley conducted a read aloud event in Metro Detroit.
Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut visited and read to children in Greater Hartford.
The Magic of Reading Gala: A Night of Pure Imagination

Thank you to everyone who supported our Magic of Reading Gala: A Night of Pure Imagination on November 7, 2019.  We raised nearly $200,000 to help under-served children develop the literacy skills and self-confidence so necessary for success in school and in life!

We were excited that Read to a Child students in the Lunchtime Reading Program were  able to come join in on the fun to greet guests, pass out "everlasting gobstoppers," and participate in the festivities!

Thank you to our sponsors: ArcLight Capital Partners, Agero, Acadian Asset Management, Arent Fox LLP, Cabot Corporation, Eaton Vance, Holland & Knight, Mintz, RSM US LLP, The TJX Companies, Wayfair, Integrity Services, The Messina Family, The Stone Family, and The Tarini Family.
