Schedule:
2021-2022 Ovation Guest Conductors!
SDYS is delighted to announce the roster of outstanding guest conductors and music educators who will work with our Ovation students for the 2021-22 season.

Nationally recognized for their work with young people, they will collaborate to support SDYS’ artistic goals as we begin our search for a new Music Director. Join us in welcoming Barbara Scowcroft (Utah Youth Symphony), Bruce Anthony Kiesling (NY Summer School for the Arts, YOLA), Sameer Patel (San Diego Symphony) and Jeffrey Grogan (Wanda Bass School of Music, YOLA) to the podium. They will work with SDYS’ team of outstanding conductors and musicians to create a memorable educational and musical experience for students and audiences alike.

SDYS conductors Juan Cristobal Palacios and Anthony Do-Hoon Kim will also be serving as guest conductors for the Ovation ensembles, in addition to leading ensembles in the Showcase program.
In Honor of Jeff Edmons
Two weeks ago we announced that longtime Music Director Jeff Edmons is planning to retire from SDYS effective August 15, 2021. Please help us celebrate and honor his 25-year legacy at San Diego Youth Symphony!
  • Record a Tribute video to Mr. Edmons before September 3rd. You can wish him well and share a favorite SDYS story or memory. We will collate and send everything to him. In lieu of recording a video if you would like to contact Jeff Edmons directly, you can reach out to him at jedmons@sdys.org.

  • Donate to a fund created by Mr. Edmons, The SDYS Student Leadership and Community Service Fund. You can make a tax deductible contribution in honor of Mr. Edmons. This fund will give SDYS students the ability to engage in special projects or opportunities that develop and foster leadership and community service.
2021-2022 Rehearsal Times

The SDYS Season Calendars are now updated with rehearsal times. We will be in touch by the first week of August if anything changes. Thank you for your patience as we continue to make the best decisions possible for all of our students, especially as we return to in-person rehearsals.
