The warmth of spring is teasing us week by week, and the hiring remains hot for industries across the region. We are engaged with candidates and clients all looking for their next great fit, and the diligent work we've put forth is always rewarded by satisfied placements. In this month's newsletter, we're keeping DE&I at the top of our list as we navigate the great resignation, and it was a pleasure to recently share my perspectives with the Boston Business Journal.
Here in Boston, the Human Resources Leadership Forum's Leadership Awards Gala will be held on May 2nd. And wait until you meet Stefanie Smolinsky, one of the newest members of our team.
Happy reading,
Alice Benson

C-Suite Conversation
Rebecca Milbury, Senior Vice President of People and Culture at BlueRock Therapeutics
Rebecca shares how BlueRock prioritizes culture and values as it quadruples in size, and how the company retains talent, and elevates women and diverse talent into positions of leadership. As often is the case in the biopharmaceutical industry, executive leadership has evolved over the past 24 months at BlueRock, and Rebecca speaks to how effective change management and communication has been key for employee understanding and buy-in.

Extra Extra! Alice Benson featured in Boston Business Journal
|
|
As workplaces become more diverse, equitable, and inclusive places, the Boston Business Journal set out to find some of the industry's leaders and perspectives on how DE&I is best accomplished. Their search led them to our Waltham offices where they chatted with Alice Benson.
"Executives in the C-suite for whom DE&I is still a new issue largely have been eager to shift with the times and prioritize the same things as their employees and society, according to Alice Benson, the CEO of Waltham-based Benson Executive Search. She compares it to how executives must stay current with data analytics or any other current trend.
“Those who have done that are going to fare better” in a job search, Benson said. “There’s no question about it.”

Recently in The Guardian: The Great Regret?
|
|
We enjoyed this recent article in The Guardian, and feel it's important to understand why this is happening. Here at Benson Executive Search we are seeing two trends driving these regrettable decisions.
- Employees are discovering after making a career move, that Zoom is just as fatiguing at their new company as the old.
- Interviewing only on video means the nuances are lost that are often important indicators for employees and employers. As one candidate said, lamenting her recent move, “Had I Interviewed in person, I would have picked up on critically important nuances.”

Stefanie Smolinsky brings more than 25 years of staffing experience to Benson, and a trove of relationship-building skills that have helped us greatly since her arrival. When she’s not crossing marathon finish lines, she’s helping an array of clients and candidates secure their next step. What does she enjoy most about her work? “Hands down, it’s helping people find their next great role,” she says.
