Important Information on COVID-19 Safety Protocols for the Return to School
As we prepare for the reopening of our schools, under the direction of the Board of Education, the District has been working tirelessly to plan and prepare for the safe return of students, faculty and staff. Last night, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health presented an informational town hall on COVID-19 safety protocols for the reopening of schools. Important safety measures regarding vaccinations, masking and testing were discussed. For your convenience, a recording of the Town Hall is featured on our District website or you can watch the Town Hall by visiting https://youtu.be/r4yHQfgaj4E
The health and safety of our students and employees are of paramount importance to the San Marino Unified School District and every effort is being made to meet or exceed state and county health guidance. To that end, the District has developed a plan that incorporates many safety measures, protocols and procedures. A summary of the District’s COVID safety measures is available at https://smusd.info/SMUSDCOVIDSafetySummary

While following multiple safety measures is important for mitigating COVID-19, getting vaccinated and wearing a mask remains two of the most powerful measures to protect oneself and reduce transmission. SMUSD is proud of the fact that 96% of SMUSD employees and 89% of individuals ages 12-17 in San Marino are fully vaccinated. To continue keeping our community informed, the Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Monday, August 9, 2021, at 6:30 PM to discuss the District’s COVID-19 safety measures and programs. SMUSD families and community members are encouraged to attend this meeting via Zoom (www.smusd.us/media) or in-person at the SMUSD District Board Room, 1665 West Drive, San Marino, CA 91108.
