LARGO POLICE RESPONSE TO RESISTANCE
The Largo Police Department is committed to providing professional and honorable service with an obligation to respect the lives and welfare of all individuals. Working along side the Clearwater Police Department and St. Petersburg Police Department, the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will release a collective response to recent inquiries related to the ‘8 Can’t Wait’ campaign and compliance with those recommendations. The law enforcement agency heads throughout Pinellas County have communicated collectively and are working together to ensure compliance with best practices.

As a State- and Nationally-Accredited agency, the Largo Police Department is committed to the highest standards and ensures methods for commendation and complaint procedures, bias-based policing, and reporting to Internal Affairs. Bias-based practices establish that every individual regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, economic status, background, age, or culture deserves the highest level of service available and equal treatment under the law.

In an effort to promote transparency, the Largo Police Department has added information on Largo.com/Police to help answer commonly asked questions related to the response to resistance by officers. The Largo Police Department and the City of Largo are actively looking for community partners to assist in facilitating conversations on the topic of equity and individual perspectives with our residents.

Making sure you and your loved ones will survive a storm or other disaster is a year-round task that requires attention to your personal business, your family, your home and your vehicles. It is not a task that can be done in just 24 hours, so start your planning now. Be sure to sign up for Alert Pinellas to receive emergency text alerts and important information.
LARGO RESIDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The City of Largo Resident Assistance Program is now is available to residents as a second line of assistance behind Countywide programs. Its intent is to help Largo families who suffered a loss in income from COVID-19 furloughs, lay-offs, reduced hours, or company closings with mortgage or rent payments and utility costs. For residents that do not have internet access or need additional help can call Largo Housing Services at 727-586-7435 to prequalify over the phone.
TEMPORARY SIGN CLEAN UP
During the COVID-19 recovery, many businesses throughout Largo have used additional temporary signage to let their customers know that they are open for business. During this period, the Community Standards Division has not proactively addressed this signage in consideration of the needs of the business community. However, beginning on June 15, Community Standards will work with businesses to educate them on the sign standards and ask that non-compliant signs be removed. There are two options for a business to continue to use temporary signs after June 15:
  1. Use of small temporary signs
  2. Use of permitted promotional signs.

Businesses should be aware that signs that are placed in the public right-of-way or in medians are not allowed at any time and will be removed. For more information, please visit the Temporary Signs section on the Business Resources Page or contact the Ask A Planner at AskaPlanner@largo.com or by calling 727-587-6749, Ext. 7301.

DID YOU RECEIVE YOUR IRS STIMULUS CHECK?
The IRS sent payments automatically to people who filed 2018 or 2019 tax returns and to those who receive Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and veterans benefits. However, if you are not typically required to file tax returns and do not receive federal benefits, you can still receive your IRS
Stimulus Check. You can use an online tool to provide your payment information to IRS by October 15. You must have a valid Social Security number and cannot be claimed as a dependent by another taxpayer. To provide the IRS with your info, go to Enter Payment Info Here

If you should have received your payment and still have not received it, you can check on the status of your Economic Impact Payment at Get My Payment
For more information, visit the IRS website at Coronavirus Economic Impact Payments
