FEBRUARY 18, 2021
Inside campus life: Hettinger-East dormmates enjoyed a chat together in their common room on Tuesday evening.
You're Invited: Webinar with Dr. Ibram X. Kendi
How To Be an Anti-Racist best-selling author and historian Dr. Ibram X. Kendi is offering a special program designed specifically for independent schools that the Brooks community is invited to attend on March 3. Parents and guardians interested in joining his "Go Beyond an Awareness of Racism" talk from 7:15 to 8 p.m. must register by Feb. 26, as space is limited.
Form Deadline
As a reminder, please complete this form by Feb. 20, indicating whether your child would like to attend school in the spring as a boarding student, day student or virtual student. We would like to settle campus housing for the spring before we leave for Spring Break on March 6.
Spring Break Departure Information
Dorm faculty are collecting information from students regarding their winter session departure date. On campus students may begin leaving campus as of Feb. 27 until March 6, when dorms will close. In-person classes and afternoon activities will continue until March 5. There are no classes on March 6. Departures should not conflict with academic classes and should take place between 3:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on a weekday (Departures should not conflict with the academic day or study hours). Students are not required to leave early, but may if they choose to.

We hope to have this information in hand as soon as possible so we can begin determining housing assignments for students who will be on campus this spring. For students who are currently on campus, the need to pack up belongings and move out of rooms at Spring Break will be determined by our ability to complete the housing process before March 6. So, your response to the form above is necessary to complete this next step.
Spring Afternoon Activities
With the spring season right around the corner we are working to design our afternoon program. We are trying to determine how many students are interested in each or our spring "base activities." As in the fall and winter, base activities will be the traditional activities offered during that particular season. Your child will have received a form from the Athletics Department -- please remind them to complete it by Feb. 22.
Exciting News About Giving Day!
Mark your calendar for our annual Giving Day on Feb. 25 and keep your eyes on Brooks School's Facebook, Instagram and Twitter that day as we look to reach 750 gifts in 24 hours! This Giving Day, we have a few incentivizing challenges in place to help us reach our goal; we would love your support!

JUST ANNOUNCED — At last night's Brooks Together launch, a generous parent issued an exciting challenge to current Brooks families: He will match every Brooks Together gift made by a current parent on Giving Day, up to $25,000. Your donation can have double the impact!

As if that wasn’t enough motivation, Brooks will also donate an acutely-needed supply or learning tool to the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence for every gift made on that day. If you have any questions, please contact Director of Annual Fund and Donor Relations Mary Merrill. Go Brooks!
Thank You, Parents
The Brooks community offers a heartfelt "Thank you!" to everyone who contributed and came together to make the annual Treats for your Sweets a success, despite COVID getting in our way. Students, faculty and staff alike were thrilled and so excited by the goodies. It certainly brought much joy to campus. Click to view pictures from the event!

Special thanks to Jenn Quinn P’20, P’21 for her tireless hard work, energy and jaw-dropping creativity in her work as co-chair of these events over the past few years. Her heartfelt dedication to Brooks is admirable and she will be sorely missed next year!
