Grande Reserve Elementary School Families,

MAP reports were sent home with in person students today. We are 3 weeks away from the end of the 1st Quarter; please get in touch with your child(ren)'s teacher so you are up to date on your child's progress and growth.

You can stay connected in multiple ways. For information on grades, schedules, and attendance, you can visit Home Access Center Please visit y115.org for more information. For updated information on your child's daily assignments, email your child’s teachers to be sure you have Guardian access to their Google Classroom.
The district was informed that some parents received an email regarding yearbooks from the district’s former photography vendor, Lifetouch. Please disregard the solicitation, as Lifetouch sent it to Y115 families in error. The district’s current photography vendor is HR Imaging. Order forms for 2020-2021 yearbooks through HR Imaging will be distributed to Y115 families after winter break. Families with additional questions or concerns are asked to email their child's building principal or the district’s Director for Business Services, Mike Vargas, at [email protected].

We are currently getting more details as to how, but for the yearbook, students can submit a picture with a gray/bluish background. This only applies to the yearbook, it is not the same with the class picture. HR Imaging needs to take that one themselves.
The weather changed significantly this week. Please send a coat, hat, and gloves (if necessary) with your child(ren) to school.
Next week, we will begin discussing our emergency drills in class. Please talk with your students to let them know we practice the drills so that we can be prepared in the event of a real situation. It's okay to be scared or worried, but practicing is the best way to feel confident and know what to expect!
If you are looking for a simple more reliable way to access Clever please take a look at the video link below. Using Clever will allow students to easily access our online platforms. Our Technology Department has recently added Clever to all student bookmarks.
Future Important Dates:
No School on Friday 10/9 & Monday 10/12
Teacher Institute Day, no students in attendance on Tuesday, 10/13
Picture retake day is October 27, 2020.
Celebrate Fall Fox Fest
& SPIRIT WEEK
Oct. 5-8

At a time in which students, alumni, families, employees, and community members cannot come together to celebrate a traditional Homecoming, the first Fall Fox Fest has been created to keep the Yorkville CUSD 115 Fox spirit alive!

From Monday, Oct. 5 through Thursday, Oct. 8, daily themes have been created to remind those in the community that even during these difficult times, we all belong to a caring community that wants the best for its children. No matter a student's grade level or how he/she currently attends school, there is much more that brings us all together than keeps us apart.

The daily themes/activities are listed in the attached flier and are available on the district website at www.y115.org/fallfoxfest

Give Back Restaurant Week

The district’s Parent-Teacher Organizations have joined to host a Give Back Restaurant Week from Oct. 5-9 in appreciation for the continual support the local business community has provided to our students and their education. Please join the District 115 Parent-Teacher Organizations and make it a point this week to patronize these local restaurants (www.y115.org/restaurantweek).

As part of Give Back Restaurant Week, students are encouraged to join in the Find the Fox Scavenger Hunt. Starting on Monday, students can use the clues on the website to find the participating businesses who have the Yorkville Fox featured in their storefront window. Students can take their photo with the fox and at the end of the week, submit them to the district to be entered to win prizes. Visit www.y115.org/findthefox for details.

Hybrid Headlines
In addition to your child coming to school there is an expected two hours of learning that are taking place at home also. Teachers have shared this information in Google Classroom or SeeSaw, depending on the grade of your child. If your child is struggling with their independent work at home, please contact your child's teacher for assistance or modifications. If your child is not completing their afternoon work, it will be marked as a partial absence.

BOOK CHECKOUT:
Hybrid students will be able to check out library books by placing holds using their personal library account. Below is a video tutorial for the students walking them through the library process steps, including how to place a book on hold and make a "favorites" list.

We are allowing a two holds max at one given time for management purposes. However, once the student has received one of their holds, they can place another hold immediately. Books are due or must be renewed two weeks after checkout (this date is written on the slip attached to the book and can be found in the child's library account as seen in the video).
