Find your Fit
The Cornelius PARC Department is helping you start 2020 right by offering adults the opportunity to explore our fitness class offerings for FREE. During the week of January 6 through January 11, we invite you to try one Tai Chi, Senior Fit Club, SKWOD Fit Camp, and/or Cardio Funk class in order to "find your fit". Just call our office or register online for one or more trial class and begin the journey to a healthier you in the new year. But hurry, pre-registration is required and there are a limited number of spaces!

With over 900 boys and girls playing in the Cornelius-Davidson Youth Basketball League, schedules can get pretty hectic! Check out our  Youth Basketball page to keep up with schedules for games, practices and pictures, as well as the current standings. 

January 18: Picture Day for ages 7 and up

 Need service hours?
Our youth basketball program offers hours to teens and adults. Our volunteers help with score keeping, clock control and gym cleanliness on Saturdays. Email David Moore for more information.

Winter Workout

Did you resolve to get fit or stay fit in 2020? Let us help you with a variety of fitness classes and open track! Register for:  

SKWOD Fit Camp Tell that fitness resolution who's boss with this exercise class to get you moving and feeling great! What is SKWOD? It's Stef + Kim + Work Out of the Day! Participants will improve cardiovascular fitness, strength, and body composition. Open for all fitness levels with modifications offered when needed. For adults ages 18 and up. The next six-week session will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, beginning January 7. $50/$65 NR 

Senior Fit Club: This six-week, low-impact class is for adults 50 plus, and includes resistance exercises and flexibility training. Class meets twice weekly, on Mondays and Wednesdays, 10:00-10:50 am. The next session begins January 22.  $72/$87 NR

Tai Chi :  This ancient exercise uses gentle, flowing movements to increase flexibility, balance, and strength. Choose either Thursday (Cornelius Town Hall) or Saturday mornings (Bailey Road Rec Center), with separate classes for beginners at 9:00 am and intermediate students at 10:15 am. The next eight-week sessions begin January 2 and 4. $45/$60 NR

Drop-In Classes- These classes are going on now! Pay as you go - no preregistration.

Cardio Funk with Lem Houston: Get your exercise groove on every Monday, 6:30 pm, and Saturday, 9:00 am, at Bailey Road Recreation Center. $5 per class; $40 for a 10-class pass. And be sure to check out the 3rd Annual January BIG EVENT ! on  Saturday, January 25. Start your new year off with a fitness bang! On this Saturday only, Cardio Funk will run for two hours, 9:00-11:00 am. You can stay as long as you can hold up! $10 per person for this special day to reset your body after the holidays.

GET OUT ON THE BAILEY ROAD PARK TRACK!  
Not enough time to squeeze in that run or walk during these short winter days? The Cornelius PARC Department can shed some light on the situation. Every Tuesday and Thursday evening in January and February, 6:00-8:00 pm, the public is invited to use the lighted track between Bailey Middle School and Bailey Road Park.

There are a few spaces remaining in our youth and adult arts education classes beginning the week of January 6. Enroll online or call us at 704-896-8823 for more information. And mark your calendars for Spring A registration, which will open for Cornelius residents on Monday, January 27, at 7:00 am and for all other participants on Wednesday, January 29, at 7:00 am!

Drop In Drop-In Art returns January 6: Preschoolers and homeschoolers ages 3 and up are invited to join us at a variety of stations  for mixed-media projects adaptable to  each age. Children 5 and older may be dropped off, while those  4 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Register online  or pay at the door, just $5 per hour/per child. Mondays and Thursdays, 10:00 am-12:00 pm, through February 13.

Horse of a Different Color, featuring lively works focused on the animals we love by local artists Tyler Helfrich, Susan Lawson and Valerie Phillips, is on display in our gallery through January 17, with some pieces available for purchase. Please join us at the closing reception and meet the artists and curator on Friday, January 10, 6:30-8:30 pm.
 
Home Grown red
Get your art submission ready for our next exhibit, Home Grown, open to artists ages 18 and up in Cornelius and surrounding areas. All entries for this non-juried show are due January 27- February 1 during business hours. Review submission guidelines and learn how to apply . Mark your calendar for the opening reception, which will be held on Friday, February 7, 6:30-8:30 pm.

Be sure to check out Beyond Walls, our annual, award-winning public art exhibition featuring seven amazing sculptures at Robbins Park, before it closes on January 31.

ATHLETICS 
Winter Baseball
It may be cold outside but it is already time to register for spring sports:  

Baseball / Softball / T-Ball : Early bird registration with Lake Norman Little League ends January 14 - save $25! Registration will then continue into February. For ages 4-16.
Lacrosse: Early bird registration with Xtreme Lacrosse ends January 7 - use promo code 4456 to save $25! Registration will then continue through February 1. For pre-K-8th graders. 
Soccer:  Register now through February 9 for boys and girls, ages 4 through high school, as well as adults, with the Charlotte Independence.
Adult Softball : Men's "C" division. Priority registration for returning teams begins in mid-February.
Tennis: Lessons are offered for ages 5 through adult with Lake Norman Tennis Academy.   

Pickleball
Pickleball: We offer free-play pickleball for adults ages 50 and up o n Sunday afternoons, 1:00-3:00 pm, at JV Washam Recreation Center.
