It's a festive season in Golden and we want to take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones the happiest of holidays!
Just a reminder that City administrative offices, the Golden History Museum (GHM) and the Golden Community Center (GCC) will be closed on Christmas day. The GCC will also close early today at 4 p.m. (pool closes at 3:30 p.m.) and the GHM will be closed all day today.
Both the GCC and the GHM will have similar hours next week on New Year's Eve. On New Year's Day, City administrative offices and the GHM will be closed while the GCC will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Heart of Golden 2020 kicks off with a successful open house
The upcoming year brings with it one of the biggest and most exciting projects in Golden history! As a community, we have the opportunity to create the next phase of the Clear Creek Corridor and collectively set in motion a plan that will shape the Heart of Golden for generations to come.
Earlier this year, the City of Golden purchased 7.27 acres of land east of Ford Street along the Clear Creek Corridor. This enhanced corridor in the heart of Golden provides the community the chance to address several longstanding community goals:
- Enhancing civic and cultural community activities
- Realizing the potential of the creek corridor
- Consolidating and improving municipal facilities and service delivery
This past Saturday, the City of Golden kicked off its public engagement process for the Heart of Golden 2020 project. More than 70 people came to see the building that currently stands at 311 10
th St. (part of the City's acquisition) and then tour the full parcel of additional land available to us for redevelopment. Many people left comments and thoughts on maps of the area, and many others are providing feedback on our engagement website,
www.GuidingGolden.com.

After the holidays, you can turn your tree into mulch. Drop off your trees from Dec. 26 through Jan. 26 at the former Golden Recycle site, just west of Hwy 93 and north of Golden Gate Canyon Road.
Please leave trees at the south end of the site; there will be a sign there for tree recycling. Trees must be stripped of all ornaments, hardware, strings of lights and tinsel. The trees will be turned into mulch, which will eventually be available for free at the public pickup site on 11th Street, just west of the Clear Creek History Park.

Hands-on History Camp registration opens in January
Golden History Museum & Park announces the return of their popular Hands-on History summer camp featuring seven unique tracks for kids aged 6 to 12.
The camp themes for 6- to 12-year-olds include: Dirty Jobs, Pioneer Kids, History Mystery, Pastimes in Times Past, Art Explorers, Settle Down, and Silent Stars. In fun activities led by expert instructors, campers will explore history through cowboy roping, gold panning, schoolhouse lessons, a visit to the Colorado School of Mines Geology Museum, and more.
Sessions will run weekly between June and August and include half-day and full-day options. For specific dates, age requirements, and information regarding times, prices, and activities, please visit

Take the Good To Be Golden survey for a chance to win $50

Rooney Road Recycling Center Survey
Rooney Road Recycling Center is conducting a survey for households in the nine municipalities they service, including Golden. Responses will help them expand the opportunities for the community to properly dispose of specific items around the homes.
The survey will run through January 5 and will take about 10 minutes to complete. Three lucky survey-takers will be randomly chosen to win a $100 Amazon Gift Card from the Rooney Road Recycling Center.
Rooney Road Recycling has been providing local household hazardous waste services to the community since 1994.

- Through Jan 3: Cheyenne St. from 8th to 7th - sidewalk will be impacted by new construction on the lot.
- Through Jan 17: One lane of Jackson St. will be closed from 17th to 18th streets so a forklift can access the exterior brick.
- Through - Jan 3: Pine Ridge Rd. from Brickyard to Avery - a traffic lane will be impacted by the installation of a new transformer.
- Through - Jan 3: 18th and Illinois will be impacted by boring and placing conduit and pulling of fiber.
- Through Dec. 27: The parking lane on Table Drive behind 2127 Vernon Drive will be impacted for construction of the residence at 2127 Vernon Drive.
- Through Jan 3: 10th Ave/Ulysses St. from Johnson Rd/Golden Rd - traffic lane will be impacted by Centurylink work.
- Through Jan 3: Washington Ave from 14th to 15th - traffic lane will be impacted by Centurylink.
- Dec 26 - 31: 18th St. from just between Cheyenne and Arapahoe to almost Washington - traffic lane will be impacted by aerial work and boring.
- Jan 6 - 11: 19th St. from Jackson to Ford - a traffic lane and the sidewalk will be impacted for aerial work on 19th St.
- Arapahoe St. between 13th and 14th (in front of Calvary Episcopal Church) has been extended. Due to the construction activity parking spaces will also be lost during this time.
- The closure of 17th St. between Washington to Jackson for construction staging and access for CSM's project at 1750 Jackson St. has been extended until Feb 29.
- Dec 26 - Jan 3: Ulysses St. from W 10th Ave. to W 12th Ave. - one traffic lane will be impacted by installation of a water main.
- Through Jan 3: A parking lane at 708 and 710 Cheyenne will be impacted due to construction.
- Jan 4 & Jan 18: Washington Ave - a parking lane will be impacted in front of the Buffalo Rose due to events.
