"Better is the end of a thing than its beginning, and the patient in spirit is better than the proud in spirit." --- Ecclesiastes 7:8
PRAYER THOUGHT
Most of us recognize that patience is a virtue and we define patience as a delay in getting what we want. However, it is defined; patience is not optional for the Christ-follower.
Patience presents the follower of Christ with a critical test of character, rooted in the simple acknowledgment that we might be wrong. When they engage in disputes, it is possible to be wrong while being right. That is a good reminder, even as we contend for the faith.
The Christian understanding of patience is grounded in our understanding of others as those in whom God is potentially at work. Paul instructed Timothy to be kind to everyone, serve others, and demonstrate patience even in correcting opponents because God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
ACTION PLAN
As we encounter others with differing lifestyles, philosophies, or beliefs, we must let God's patience govern our thoughts, behaviors, and actions. We represent Him, and we are His agents of change. Pray for people in our country to exercise patience, and maximize the opportunities to build relationships that become conduits of truth.
