CRIMEA RIVER, A meditation on the Russian incursion on the people of the Ukraine by contributing artist, Dan Makara.
He explains, "How many centuries of lessons do we need to learn what is so obvious? Doing any kind of art is a release. If it can lead to a solution of learning to live and treat one another fairly is the goal. In this video of my recent work, I use Rachmaninoff's Opus 42. Color and texture in painting being visual "sound." The sound of music being the most abstract by nature. To see the courage of the Ukranian people is not an abstraction. It is an inspiration." To recognize the art of storytelling, City Lights Gallery sponsors a monthly story gathering for adults on Zoom.
The emphasis is personal stories to share the human experience. Participants with fictional or historical stories are welcome too! We encourage professional tellers, amateurs, and listeners to join us. During the exchange, participants share a story, a part of a story, a story idea, or attend just to listen.
Test out a piece, receive help developing it if you wish, and listen to the stories of others. Discover what makes a story compelling.
