COMMUNITY PRIORITIES

TOMORROW
Civic Affairs Forum - Virtual
Walnut Creek Community Priorities
Speaker: Dan Buckshi
Walnut Creek City Manager

Tuesday, May 10 | 9AM – 10AM

To register for the virtual forum,

The City of Walnut Creek has engaged the community in conversations about the future needs of Walnut Creek. Those conversations have ramped up over the past two years, with the City engaging in discussions with residents regarding their priorities and interests, and evaluating
growing needs related to the vital programs and services provided by the City. In particular, many City facilities, such as the aging infrastructure in the pool and aquatic and sports facilities at Heather Farm and
the community center, that support the community's most valued programs and services, are decades old and nearing the end of their useful lifespans after constant use by thousands of individuals and families. To fund future quality of life needs, the City is exploring the concept of asking voters to consider a ten-year, 1/2 cent sales tax increase (ballot measure) in November 2022. Following the presentation, Mr. Buckshi will answer questions from the zoom audience facilitated by Matt Guichard, the Chair of the Civic Affairs Forum.

SURVEY THE SITUATION
Walnut Creek Essential City Services Survey

The City of Walnut Creek provides the services that residents tell us they value most — vibrant neighborhoods; help in an emergency; safe streets; quality parks, recreation venues, and programs; abundant arts and cultural opportunities; social services; and more.

Many of these projects and facilities are likely to require funding beyond what our City budget can accommodate. When the City has significant needs, it is our practice to plan a funding strategy to pay for them rather than decreasing valuable City services and programs. To maintain our high quality of life, we are considering the possibility of placing a limited-term modest sales tax increase on the November ballot. No decisions have been made yet, and ultimately Walnut Creek voters would have the say as to whether or not to approve an increase. Learn more. Take our survey to help the City Council and City leaders make vital decisions for the future of Walnut Creek.

The Chamber staff and Board were thrilled to be included in the VIP celebration and ribbon cutting to celebrate Lamborghini Walnut Creek's grand opening. We were all welcomed by the
entire Lamborghini team who gave us a tour of their showroom's cutting-edge features and sleek Lamborghini's. "Walnut Creek is a growing metropolitan community with amazing rural driving roads," said Baldi. "The inclusion of the Walnut Creek facility marks a total of eight Lamborghini retail destinations in California, which is the leading market for Lamborghini in the US, attributing to 27% of total US sales from January through March 2022."
