ECA has a New Baby Grand Piano: An honor to receive this gift!
As some of you may already know, ECA has been gifted with a very special Yamaha baby grand piano by Wanda Ziembinski. How it got to us is a story orchestrated by God himself. Wanda had a very good friend, Janice Berg Shalatsky, who was a very accomplished pianist. When Janice passed away, she left her baby grand piano to Wanda, and she decided to donate it to her church in NY where it was played and enjoyed for the last 14 years. Unfortunately, last December the church had to close their doors. The Sr. Warden contacted Wanda and asked her what she wanted to do. After much thought and prayer, God’s plan was clear – bring it to ECA. So in the middle of the pandemic, the piano was shipped from New York to ECA. It arrived on Good Friday. On the side of the piano is a plague which simply states, “In memory of Janice Berg Shalatsky. She made beautiful music with her hands and in her life.”. Wanda is thrilled to have her friend’s piano at ECA, and hopes everyone will soon be able to enjoy hearing the beautiful music Joe has been making on it, as much as she does.
