Dear Residents -

May, the month that bridges spring and summer, and when most of us start daydreaming about warm summer days and how we want to spend them. For me, it is time at the beach, barbecues, spending time with family and friends and, in theory, a time to slow down.

However, May is Mental Health Awareness month, too. After two long years of COVID-19, with quarantines, isolation and, for many, economic fallout, it is only natural that it would lead to an increased risk of mental health issues. Sadly, it has also led to an increase in suicidal behavior. It is being called the dual pandemic of suicide and COVID-19. If you or anyone you know is feeling stressed or anxious, help is available. Please call the Rockland County Department of Health at (845) 364-2512, visit them online at Rockland County Department of Health or contact NAMI Rockland.

Construction of the new Town Hall addition is set to begin soon and, unfortunately, several trees along Dutch Hill Road and at the rear of Police Plaza will need to be removed to accommodate the new parking areas. A 6’ privacy fence will be installed along Police Plaza and, after construction, new trees will be planted. We realize that this will be an inconvenience but, after exhausting several options, a previous Town Board determined that this was the most cost-effective way to obtain a long overdue new Town Hall. We appreciate your patience and look forward to welcoming everyone to our new Town Hall in 2023.

Sunday is Mother’s Day. If you still need to get your mother a present, the Palisades Community Center is hosting their 14th Annual Plant and Gift Sale on Saturday, May 7th at the Palisades Community Center. For further information, please see their flyer below.

Enjoy the weekend everyone and, if you are fortunate enough to still have your mom, be sure to give her an extra big hug!

Regards,
Teresa M. Kenny
