As the temperatures fall below freezing, please remind your Bronco to wear a jacket, sweatshirt, or sweater that can be worn when they go outside to PA.  We will take them outside as long as the temperature is above freezing (including the wind chill).  I realize that this is a battle that you may not want to fight, but students wearing only shorts and a t-shirt this week is a little ridiculous.

We will begin third quarter and second semester class changes on Monday, January 27.  Students will be instructed to report to their new electives and our next class rotation with Green block moving from last to first.  The new order will be Green-Blue-Red-Yellow.

Our annual Saturday Academy will begin on Saturday, February 1.  Students who qualify for this opportunity will each be given an invitation letter today.  Students were identified from their EOG scores from 18-19, recent MAP scores, and grades.  These sessions are designed for our students who need additional support in math and reading as shown by the three indicators listed above.

Finally, we have purchased a license through a donation to show the movie Screenagers on Tuesday, March 3 in the Hough High School Auditorium.  We will be inviting parents from Bailey, Hough, Cornelius, Huntersville, J.V. Washam, and Davidson to this event.  We will also be showing the student version the following early release day to our Broncos, which will be followed by an activity and discussion.  Screenagers is a documentary that gives parents some real information about screen time, internet addiction, social media and mental health, which are all very real issues for the current generation of kids.  More information will be coming soon, but mark your calendars and get there early since this free event will be first come, first serve seating.  Link to website for more info: https://www.screenagersmovie.com/

Stay warm,

The Bailey Middle School store is open every morning before school starts from 8:45-9:15am.  Please consider signing up for a morning or as many mornings as you'd like to sell items in the store. Thank you for your willingness to volunteer at the Bailey School Store!
  Bailey Band Notes

Gustavo Cruz, tenor saxophone, and Anderson Shelkey, bass guitar, auditioned for the NC Western Region Honors Jazz Bands and were selected. Gustavo will be playing 1st Tenor Sax in the "A" Band and Anderson will be playing bass guitar in the "B" Band. Gustavo is also eligible to audition for All-State. These auditions are very competitive and they are to be congratulated on making the bands.
The concert is at 2:00 on February 1st at Asheville High School.

International Night

International Night
Bailey Middle School's annual "International Night" is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 20th. This annual event showcases and celebrates the diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the families at our school. This event is a great way to introduce Bailey students and their families to customs and traditions from all over the world. Every year the event gets bigger and better!

We are looking for parents and students to volunteer as ambassadors for their country/region by decorating a booth, dressing in traditional clothing, and sharing art, food, music, games, etc. Bailey will provide the tables for the booths.
As an incentive to volunteer, students that participate with their families by setting up a booth will receive extra credit (bonus points) in their choice of subject. Students that attend the event and get their passport stamped will receive extra credit in Social Studies.

Contact  Karey Sweetman for more information and to sign up for a booth,   click here.
