County Spotlights
County administers 2,546 COVID-19 tests in first week of testing sites
Last week, County Executive Matt Meyer  launched six COVID-19 testing sites across the county in an effort to help meet Governor Carney's goal of testing 80,000 residents per month for COVID-19. This week, the county has expanding to ten testing sites, offering two per day on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. To see what testing events are near you and register,  CLICK HERE . Registration is not required to get tested, but is strongly suggested to ensure traffic flow at testing sites remains fluid. The tests are quick, painless and free.

County's testing with BioBot featured in Bloomberg Business
New Castle County has been working with M.I.T. startup BioBot Analytics to test for cases of COVID-19 in wastewater since early April. The testing method - looking for viruses in wastewater to track spread - was used to combat the spread of polio and is now helping inform the County's decisions on how and where we test for the virus and keep the public safe. BioBot's research has previously been used to help communities study opiate addiction in North Carolina. To read the full piece in Bloomberg Businessweek, CLICK HERE .
