Virtual meeting August 3 for Comp Plan changes to multi-family developments The Hillsborough Planning Commission is holding a virtual public stakeholder meeting on August 3 at 6pm to discuss the a proposal for a Comprehensive Plan amendment that would limit residential development in much of Tampa, but not the Westshore District north of Kennedy Blvd, according to the most recent draft. New traffic signal at Beach Street and Himes Avenue The City of Tampa is installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Beach Street and Himes Avenue, about halfway between the existing signals at Columbus Drive and Spruce Street. The signal was identified as a need in the West Tampa Multimodal Plan, which is one of the plans referenced in the Westshore Alliance’s Transportation Action Plan. The temporary wood pole/wire signal will be replaced later by a traditional structure. The signal is another addition to the City’s safety work on Himes between Kennedy Blvd. and Hillsborough Ave., which previously included midblock crossings, transit stops, and bike lanes.
