7th Grade Science Labs
In order to enrich learning for students, our 7th grade science classes have recently been participating in hands-on lab experiments.

One yearly experience has proven to be a favorite for students, the "Sight Lab" with Dr. Repsher. Stations included using tools such as an ophthalmology viewer and students were able to dissect an actual cow eye.

To further enhance learning about the eye, students also participated in a "Mirror Challenge". Students were tasked with investigating the image transference of a plane mirror versus a half-silvered glass. Their challenge? - attempt to transfer the reflection of a hidden block to each reflective surface, including the mirror that was blocking the wooden block from sight.

Kindness Matters
CJ Staff and Students are implementing intentional kindness into daily life here at school. There is a certain correlation between happiness and educational success, so our students are finding ways to brighten the day of their peers.

A group of students at the Junior High recently formed a kindness club called "KREW" (Kids Recognizing Everyone's Worth). Their first initiative has been rolled out on Friday mornings. The students arrive early to school to hold open doors and lavish a warm greeting and a high-five to their peers. The students also reached out to local organizations and churches, and have even gotten some community members to join in on the fun as positive adult role-models.

Throughout most of the months of January and February, Counselors and Students at the Intermediate Building have started a "Random Acts of Kindness Challenge". Each day another idea of how to be kind and inclusive is proposed to the students. Ideas include things such as: "helping someone carry their things", and "be partners with someone new."

We love to see the big hearts of our Bulldogs!
Members of the JH "KREW" club greet their peers as they arrive at school on Friday mornings .
Intermediate students take to the hallways marking favorite hobbies that they share with classmates, showing support and similarities. See more about the kindness challenge here: Intermediate Counselors Facebook Page
Class tours KODE
Carl Junction teacher Maeve Sahni’s class had a fun and enriching field trip when they were invited to tour the KODE TV, Action 12 News Studio in Joplin. Meteorologist Ray Foreman introduced the lucky students to his work space and even allowed them to do some mock forecasting in front of the green screen.
