Wow, do we need April.
Eighteen inches of snow in the middle of March! C'mon! We had just turned on the air conditioner to see if it would make it through another summer (see below for opportunities!) and out of the Northeast comes an ugly reminder that Spring hadn't yet sprung.

Knock Knock
Yeah, I don't know what he was doing either.
He's a Knocker Upper.
Many old and honorable occupations that no longer exist have their origins deeply rooted in history when people worked many varying trades.
One of these jobs was that of the knocker-up also sometimes referred to as a knocker-upper. This profession was prevalent in both England and Ireland having started during the early days of the Industrial Revolution. Before alarm clocks were both affordable, and reliable, it was the job of the knocker-up to rouse his sleeping clients from their slumber so they could get to work on time.
The knocker-up often used a long stick with wire or knob to wake those clients that required his services. More often the sticks were made of lightweight bamboo, and much longer to be able to reach windows on upper floors. In return for the provided service the knocker-up would be paid a few pence a week. The knocker-up would often not leave a client's window until they were assured the client had been awoken and would not fall back asleep.
Generally this job was one that elderly men or women worked or sometimes local police constables would supplement their income by doing this work during their early morning patrols.
Hey, don't knock it. It's a job.

English born, she was rejected from several medical schools because of her gender before being accepted to Hobart College (then: Geneva Medical College) in 1847.
The faculty let the all-male student body vote on whether she could attend. Thinking it was a joke they voted her in unanimously.

Newest Daniels Service
David and Bob Daniels announced today that they would be adding gourmet food home delivery as part of an expanding outreach to better serve their automatic delivery customers.
The service -
Daniels Dandy Delicious Delights - is expected to beginning serving customers from Cromwell to Madison. Initially, the effort would be restricted to dinnertime deliveries 5pm-9pm, Mondays through Fridays beginning April 1.
"This is an exciting and challenging new opportunity for us to meet the never-ending needs of our valued customers. We'll start with providing basic Italian, Greek, Portugese, English and Indonesian dishes but hope to quickly add a complete line of vegetarian meals as well.
By Christmas we anticipate being able to add a full line of breakfast options as well, with our famous Eggs Daniels, Stuffed Croissant French Toast and, of course flapjacks. When it comes to breakfast or dinner, I hope our customers will
"Let Daniels Do It," said Bob Daniels.
"I think my brother is a little nuts, but we've long challenged ourselves to find ways to better serve our customers and we may have landed on something really big here. Or not. Who knows?" added the more sober-minded David.
John Daniels, the fourth generation Daniels family member indicated that he was working on learning to brine corn beef in anticipation of a line of luncheon sandwiches. "It's all about customer satisfaction," said John.
