Hello Sloan Creek Families,
I hope you will watch the video summary posted above for more details about:
End of G1:
- Today is the end of first grading period (G1).
-
This would be a great time to check your child's grades in powerschool and prompt your child to reach out to their teachers if they are not mastering skills or missing grades.
Lovejoy Fall Break:
- Lovejoy ISD will have a four day fall break from Friday, October 9th-Monday, October 12th. Classes resume on Tuesday, October 13th.
Peer Leadership Awards:
- Each week, four student leaders will be nominated to receive a peer leadership award. These awards are given on the basis of leading by example using our "7 Habits of Happy Kids" framework. We will celebrate each leader on our video announcements and in our parent video. See this weeks nominees in the video above and pictures below.
Attendance Changes for Second 9- Weeks:
Starting the 2nd 9-Weeks, and in alignment with the TEA virtual instructional learning plans submitted by Lovejoy ISD for funding purposes, students who have selected On-Campus instruction are expected to attend On-Campus instruction Monday - Friday.
Secondary students will no longer be able to gain attendance credit by attending classes virtually if designated as On-Campus student unless the student is out for illness, officially quarantined due to exposure, out due to COVID illness or the instructional day has been approved as an asynchronous day by Lovejoy ISD.
Students participating in Leopard Virtual Learning will follow attendance procedures below for their corresponding grade level.
Synchronous Instruction (5th -12th Grade) requires students and teachers to be present at the same time online. This method replicates the current on-campus method of taking daily attendance in a remote synchronous instructional setting. In a remote synchronous teaching and learning method, students who are logged in at the teacher’s documented official attendance time are marked present for that day, and students who are not logged in at the teacher’s documented official attendance time are marked absent. *Please note new attendance standards will start for LHS on October 15th.
Asynchronous Instruction (Pre-K - 4th Grade ONLY, unless designated by LISD) does not require students and teachers to be present online at the same time. If a teacher has assigned asynchronous learning, students who login and engage in teacher-assigned learning apps for the day are considered “present” for that class. Students who do not login and engage in asynchronous learning for the day it was assigned by their teachers will be marked “absent” for that class. For example, if a teacher assigns the entire weeks' worth of asynchronous learning activities on Monday and the student completes all of the assignments for the week on Monday and does not log in for the remainder of the week, he/she will be marked “present” on Monday only and counted “absent” for Tuesday-Friday.
Please note that these changes are reflected in updated the 2020 - 2021 Fall Planning Guide.
With gratitude for your kindness as we work to meet each child's need. Please call or text if I can help in anyway!
