COVID & Hybrid Update

A Message from the Principal

We just completed our 12th week with students on campus with no on-campus spread. As our sports seasons begin to ramp up, we will increase our testing. Our next on-campus Covid test date is February 24th, and that registration link is now open. Our last round of testing had zero positive responses out of 128 tests.

The new break guidelines that Mrs. Main implemented have been working very well. With this success, we do truly appreciate everyone’s cooperation and teamwork. We still have a ways to go, and we will continue to message the importance of the protocols we have in place.

Kevin Cushing
Principal
New, weekly COVID Testing on-campus
Carondelet has scheduled additional COVID-19 testing dates on-campus for the remainder of the semester. The next upcoming test date is Wed. Feb. 24 and will be available on-campus weekly for all following weeks through the school year. Testing is recommended and voluntary for most, but in-season student-athletes will be required to take tests every other week.
Changing between Hybrid and Distance Learning
Requests due Friday
We have created a Hybrid Management Portal on our website so that requesting a change between hybrid and virtual status is easier for your family. Any status change requests are due by noon on Friday, February 19. This should allow for a return to hybrid reintegration start date of February 22.
Yearbook / ID Photo Retakes
The last chance to make up or re-take yearbook/ID photos is this Wednesday, Feb. 17 from 1:45-3:15 PM. If this is a re-take, please bring your photo package. Sign-up required
Schedule updates
There have been two updates to the school calendar for this semester.
  • Friday, March 12 is now a school holiday. That week will no longer have a Flex Day and classes will meet on Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Tuesday, April 27 will now be a Flex Day to accommodate Juniors who choose to take the SAT. 4/5/6/0 classes will meet on Wednesday, April 28 that week.
2021-22 Tuition Assistance Applications

Applications are now open in FACTS for families requesting tuition assistance at Carondelet for the 2021-22 school year. The deadline to apply is Monday, February 15.

All families must apply each year aid is requested. Access the FACTS website, or you can also find the application on our Tuition Assistance page along with information on the process. Our funds are finite and we try to help as many families as possible. Late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered and may miss out on available funds so start the process now. Please contact Terri Meehan with any questions.
Student Life Updates
Ash Wednesday
Since we are not able to gather and distribute ashes this year in observance of Ash Wednesday, we are encouraging students to attend liturgy and receive ashes at their parish on Wednesday, Feb. 17. View local parish schedules. Prior to Ash Wednesday, our student body will watch a video produced by Spiritual Life Council that will help prepare us for the observance of this important day and give students information about local parish celebrations. This video is being shared on Feb. 10 and Feb. 16 in order to assist students in planning ahead. There will also be a special morning prayer video on Feb. 17 in observance of Ash Wednesday.

Class Spotlights
Freshmen and Seniors: Wednesday, Feb. 24, 8:30-11:00 AM

As we navigate our daily life and sometimes challenging times, we can lose sight of our faith as our anchor. Lent provides us a beautiful opportunity to carve out important time for reflection.
As a guide for our discussion, we've selected “Let us Dream: The Path to a Better Future" by Pope Francis. "In this uplifting and practical book, the preeminent spiritual leader explains why we must—and how we can—make the world safer, fairer, and healthier for all people now." Sign up to join

Student Wellness

Carondelet values student social emotional health at its highest level and this can be seen in its clear support of our counseling department. As Wellness Counselors your daughters mental health and well-being is at the forefront of what we do. Learn about on campus wellness resources.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for youth ages 15-24, but it is preventable. We encourage families to keep the lines of communication open around this important topic, and to engage in regular conversation regarding mental health and well being.

RISE week centers on Respect, Inclusion, Solidarity, and Empowerment toward women as well as a call to stop violence against women. We have resources available in person and online for those who may be experiencing violence or harm.

Wellness counselors are available to support students and families in navigating these issues and developing strategies that foster social emotional health. Please reach out if you have any questions, concerns, or are in need of any referrals.

Attendance Reminders

If a student will miss class, for any reason, a parent/guardian must notify Ms. Malisa in the Attendance Office as soon as possible. Additionally, if a hybrid student will be absent from school, but intends on participating online, a parent/guardian must also notify Ms. Malisa. Missing class and/or being physically absent from school without parent/guardian notification may result in an unexcused absence. After any medical appointment, please email a photo of the school excuse note or appointment verification notice.

Email is the preferred method of communication with Ms. Malisa (mmeemari@carondeleths.org). She can also be reached via the Attendance Hotline at (925) 686-5353 ext. 359. In addition to notifying Ms. Malisa, students are always expected to directly connect with their teachers.
