Property Tax Information
The 2020 Final Tax Bill (including bills for residential and commercial properties) will be mailed out to property owners at the end of June. Keep a look out for yours! This will include two (2) installments that are due on:

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, council has waived all penalty and interest charges on all outstanding property taxes for the months of April, May, June and July 2020.

3. Mail a cheque to our office or place it in the drop box located to the right of our main door. If you indicate you would like a receipt with your payment, one will be mailed to you.
4. Use our secure, third-party company
Paymentus to pay with a credit card (Please note they charge a 1.75% service fee).

Please note that the 2020 MPAC Assessment update for all Ontario properties has been postponed until further notice due to COVID-19. Property assessments for the 2021 property tax year will continue to be based on the fully phased-in current values. This means your property assessment for the 2021 property tax year will be the same as the 2020 tax year, unless there have been changes to your property. For more information, please contact MPAC at

Seasonal Water Testing Courier Service Paused Due to COVID-19
The seasonal water testing courier service at the Township of North Kawartha has been suspended until further notice. We apologize for any inconvenience.
Please drop off fresh, cold water samples along with fully completed paperwork.
There are two locations available for water sampling drop offs.
2) Hastings Prince Edward Public Health located at 1 Manor Lane on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30 am-12 pm with drop off in Cooler in front of "The Café". Please call ahead to ensure program is still running, 1-613-332-4555.
Test results will be available by phone or email.
Water bottle testing kits will be made available for pick up Monday to Friday 9:00 am - 4:30 pm, at the North Kawartha Municipal Office. Please call ahead to arrange a pick up time 705-656-4445.
Paper work for testing must include the following:
Full Name, Address of the Sample Location, Date, Location of Water Source, Peterborough Public Health Number is #2255, Hastings & Prince Edward Public Health is #2238
Please note **The Labs will not test the sample if any information is missing or incomplete. **

Limited Re-opening Of North Kawartha Outdoor Sports and Recreational Amenities
|
At the time of publication, to help protect the health and safety of the public, the Township of North Kawartha has suspended all programs and/or services at the North Kawartha, Wilson Park, and Glen Alda Community Centres, until further notice.
In compliance with
Provincial Government orders to prohibit organized public events and social gatherings of more than five people, Wilson Park, Glen Alda, and Lions playgrounds are closed.
Some outdoor North Kawartha Sports and
Recreational Amenities are re-opening (with restrictions). Included are the Tennis/Pickleball courts (singles only) and baseball diamond at Wilson Park, in addition to the Picnic Shelter and Benches at Wilson Park and the Glen Alda Community Centre.
Individuals who use the opened amenities for the above purposes are required to physically distance (stay 2 metres apart), unless they are members of the same household.
Individuals are not permitted to play team sports, such as soccer or baseball, even on fields intended for this purpose unless they are members of the same household.
Please check the Township website often (especially the COVID-19 page) for up-to-date information regarding changes, re-instating, and/or gradual re-opening of facilities and programming. Council Meetings During COVID-19
North Kawartha Council met on March 26, 2020 and amended the Township Procedure By-Law to permit meetings to be held electronically, under the authority of the Municipal Emergency Act, 2020, in order to function during the pandemic.
If a member of the public is interested in joining the Council meeting electronically to listen and observe the meeting in real time please contact the
Deputy Clerk
by email
no later than 8:30 a.m. the morning of the scheduled meeting
and you will be provided with an invitation to join the meeting electronically using Zoom.
Although possible for members of the public to "attend" a meeting electronically, we would encourage you to communicate with Council by forwarding any comments regarding an agenda item in writing via email to the Clerk or Deputy Clerk.

Municipal Office Closure- Canada Day
|
The Municipal Office will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. We will reopen on Thursday, July 2, 2020

Burn permits are required for all open air burning in the Township of North Kawartha. This includes campfires of any size and brush burning.
If you are unable to complete the Burn Permit Online you must attend an issuing location to complete a burn permit in person.
You can visit one of the following locations during operating hours to obtain a burn permit in person:
* Woodview General Store
6220 Highway 28, Woodview
* Anstruther Marina
23 Fire Route 63, Anstruther Lake
The following are not permitted:
- Burning during the daytime ( 8 AM until 6 PM) from April 1 until October 31
- Use of Burn barrels
- Burning of grass or leaves
- Ignition of or use of flying lantern (also known as sky lantern)
- Burning of garbage or hazardous to the environment materials

Curbside Collection will continue as per the normal schedule.
To support physical distancing, residents are encouraged to use Curbside Collection.

The
Household Hazardous Waste
(HHW) Depot at the Anstruther Transfer Station
will remain closed for the 2020 season.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and restrictions, the County of Peterborough is unable to open the seasonal HHW Depots throughout Peterborough County. However, the County will continue to operate the main HHW Depot on Pido Road for North Kawartha and County residents.
The Peterborough County HHW Depot is located at: 400 Pido Road, Peterborough ON, K9J 6X7
Temporary operating hours are: Wednesday to Friday, 11 am to 4 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. Some restrictions apply.
Environmental Day Cancelled
To help protect the health of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, the County of Peterborough has cancelled the one-day-only, Spring Cleanup/Environmental Day, that was to be held at Anstruther Transfer Station, on June 7, 2020.

2020/2021 Waste Site Pass at the
Transfer Stations beginning June 1st, 2020. If you would like Bag Tags, please obtain them from any of the Transfer Station attendants, or by calling the Municipal Office at 705-656-5175 to make speak with Reception and make arrangements.

An annual licence fee is the responsibility of every dog owner in the Township. The Licence Fee
, is $15 per spayed/neutered dog, $20 per non-spayed/non-neutered dog . To purchase a dog licence please contact reception at 705-656-4445 ext. 232. Once all information is received, the dog licence, dog tag and invoice will be mailed out to the address you provide.
