Thank you from the
We have received your masks! Thank you so much for sending those along. They are going a long long way here in Immokalee. As you may have seen the number of cases of COVID are rising exponentially now that farmworkers are getting tested.
We are pushing for more tests to get delivered here to Immokalee so we are able to continue painting the picture of what the severity of this pandemic is here, along with our original demands of the hospital.
Thank you, Karen, and everyone at UU St. Pete for your tremendous support during this difficult time.

HOW CAN I HELP?
UUs Helping People
A big shout-out to our hard-working UUHP team, led by Reggie Craig. The team is but one part of our action-oriented Social Justice Committee.
- At the Friday Night Picnic, we serve over 4000 meals annually, 52 weeks a year, to those who are food insecure.
- Through our financial contributions, raised with Share the Plate and the Annual Stone Soup fundraiser, we support the following direct outreach organizations: Day Star, St. Pete Free Clinic Women's Residence, St. Pete Free Clinic Family Residence, Celebrate Outreach breakfast, Celebrate Outreach Tiny Homes program, Trinity Lutheran food pantry and the UUSP Little House (in our back lot) renovation fund.
- Our food collections during worship services benefit the St. Pete Free Clinic, Trinity Lutheran Food Pantry and our own Friday Night Picnic.
Thanks
to the UUHP team and Social Justice Committee for all of the impactful work they do.

HOW CAN I STAY CONNECTED?
BUILDING COMMUNITY
IN A PANDEMIC
We are a new committee, created by the Board, to sustain and grow our UUSP community remotely. So far we have many fun virtual events but invite you to come up with ideas and especially, to lead an event. Would you like to:
- go on a walking tour of your neighborhood, waving hello to UUSPers?
- join a parade of cars honoring a birthday or other milestone?
- visit a cultural venue and share the experience via Zoom?
- conduct a cooking, crafting, do-it-yourself activity via Zoom?

from Karen Coale/Social Justice:
“I Can’t Breathe”
But we
can breathe. So what should we do? Listen, reflect, listen.
- By deeply listening to the suffering and anger of our Black neighbors, we can gain understanding. Read opinion pieces such as this one in Sunday's Tampa Bay Times
- By taking a few on-line tests we can get in touch with our own implicit biases. Harvard has some free tests.
- Some others have suggested books to read and discuss. Gather into groups and do it.
- Trevor Noah brilliantly explains our current situation in Reflection on the Broken Social Contract. Click here to watch the 20-minute video.

HOW ARE...
Sabine von Aulock &
Jeri Huempfner-Gatz?
Sabine writes:
Jeri and Sabine continue to be grateful for living in paradise, being able to garden, enjoying 'Wacky Wednesday" dinner with the Allen family, serving dinner to ~80 people in need every Friday night at UUSP, and coordinating the construction of our first Tiny Home for Homeless Veterans at 3516 3rd Ave. South (volunteers welcome!). We are, however, reeling from the murder of George Floyd and all those before him and are daily comforted by our UUSP community, which is our anchor and inspiration.
