 NEW  STRATEGIC PLAN

As President Lassner announced on March 8, UH System is moving forward on a new Strategic Plan, 2023–2029. This process builds upon the Third Decade Report, the President's Post-Pandemic Hawaiʻi white paper, and UH's progress on Strategic Directions 2015–21. We know the semester is quickly coming to a close, so in order to engage as many faculty, staff and students as possible, we are hosting four town halls before the end of the term.

Please join one of the virtual town halls on the strategic plan:

We also encourage the UH community to respond to a survey about priorities for the strategic plan and process for strategic planning. Deadline for providing input via the survey is Friday, May 6, 2022.

NEW CONGRATULATIONS!

To UHMC Art Instructor and Marine Option Program Student Gwen Arkin for her award-winning winning presentation at the annual Marine Option Program (MOP) Student symposium.

Gwen won the John P. Craven Award for “Photographs of Hawaiian Algae: Cyanotype Impressions.” This award honors one of the founders of MOP and is given for the most inspiring project/presentation. Gwen’s project incorporates art, science and Hawaiian culture in the spirit of MOP. The Marine Option Program is a system-wide UH program that welcomes students in any major who have an interest in incorporating knowledge of the ocean into their curriculum. This project is especially fitting as 2022 has been designated by the Governor of Hawaiʻi as “Year of the Limu.” Gwen will receive her MOP certificate this semester for completing the curriculum and her project.

Her exhibit was shown at the Honolulu Museum of Art and will be traveling to Waimea and then the Bishop Museum in the near future.

See the article in UH News here.
