Thursday February 17th: The Invention of Nature, by Andrea Wulf

This book reveals the forgotten life of Alexander von Humboldt, the visionary German naturalist whose ideas changed the way we see the natural world—and in the process created modern environmentalism.

"Wulf does much to revive our appreciation of this ecological visionary through her lively, impressively researched account of his travels and exploits, reminding us of the lasting influence of his primary insight: that the Earth is single, interconnected organism, one that can be catastrophically damages by our own destructive actions." Small Group Ministry
Plans for the next sessions

Thank you to everyone who participated in the current session of SGM which is coming to a close. A decision has been made to align the next SGM session and themes with the start of the new worship year in September. The additional time will give the facilitator team a moment to refresh and explore a variety of thought and conversation provoking topics. As we draw closer to the start date, please stay tuned to Current Happenings for more information about SGM and the sign up process.

For questions or concerns, please contact Cindy OLeary who will be the new SGM coordinator at cindyoleary@sbcglobal.net

February Shared Plate Recipient
Grey Bears

This month's collection will be shared with Grey Bears, a local organization with the mission of improving the health and well-being of seniors in our community through food and meal deliveries, volunteerism, resource conservation, and recycling. Grey Bears promotes good nutrition, activity, and social connection as the perfect recipe for healthy aging!

Since 1973 the Healthy Food program has delivered 100+ million pounds of food to Santa Cruz County seniors, veterans, families, and farm workers.
Its thrift store repurposes donated household items that conserve resources while reducing the collective carbon footprint. Three recycling centers divert 8,000 tons of material from landfills each year, and our organics program transforms 60 tons of food scraps into high-quality compost for sale in the thrift store. Grey Bears promotes activity, learning, and volunteering to keep our community engaged and connected
