What's Happening Now...
Road, Sidewalk and Pathway Construction
The City of Novi prides itself on maintaining open lines of communication and keeping community members apprised of the latest in road and
non-motorized construction projects.
The following information is intended to provide an overview of current projects.
Please note: All completion dates are merely estimates. Projects could extend beyond those dates due to unforeseen issues with the project and inclement weather.

Oakland County Transportation
Updates
Removals are nearly complete for all of Stage 1. The contractor should have the grade prepped and formed for new concrete placement potentially next week. The plan is for the new concrete to cure for strength over the long holiday weekend. The hope is to begin Stage 2 after the holiday weekend. During Stage 1, the outside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction and only right turns will be allowed from southbound and northbound Novi Road. During Stage 2, one inside lane of 12 Mile will be open in each direction. Novi Road will be completely closed north and south of 12 Mile Road.
Estimated completion date: August 15, 2019
All mile segments of 10 Mile are now complete with paving within Novi's limits (Meadowbrook to Napier roads). The contractor will be finishing the gravel shoulders by the end of this week. Final striping and pavement markings will be placed on all segments by the end of June.

RCOC
will be doing pavement preventative maintenance on Haggerty Road, from 8 to 9 Mile Roads. The project will involve spot milling of the existing asphalt at curb line and entrance approaches and placing two-inches of asphalt pavement over top the entire road way. Project is expected to begin after the 10 Mile project is complete.
Estimated completion date: July 30, 2019
RCOC is having a contractor finish the balance of concrete panel work remaining from the 2018 project which concentrated on the intersection of 12 Mile and Meadowbrook Road. The work is expected to begin after the completion of the 12 Mile and Novi Road intersection.
Estimated completion date: September 14, 2019
RCOC is replacing the existing culverts at two Seeley Drain crossings of Haggerty Road, north of 13 Mile Road and MacKenzie Drive. While under construction, Haggerty Road will be closed at the culvert locations. Project is expected to
start July 8.

City of Novi Projects
Rossdale Court, Woodside Court and Addington Lane are now complete and open to traffic. Restoration on these streets to follow, shortly. Work has started on Cheyenne Drive and Cody Lane.

Heatherbrae Way S, Siegal Drive/Court, Singh Boulevard and Vero Court are now complete. Restoration, to include irrigation, will be ongoing over the next couple weeks. The milling and paving of Anchorage Court and Crestwood Drive was also expected to be completed this week.

The second halves of panels on Carlisle Court, Waycroft Drive, Courtview Trail and Roxbury Drive have been completed and awaiting cure strength. Crews are now starting removals on the second halves of Cherry Hill Road and Park Ridge Court. Work on Nilan Drive will also be starting this week.

The contractor has completed the spray patching of all the streets and was expected to begin chip sealing each of those streets on Wednesday. The final step of fog sealing should start immediately following the chip sealing.

Even with all the rain, the contractor has made significant progress removing all the unsuitable soils and nearly half done with its replacement with good, road foundation soils. They are nearly complete with all the steel sheeting wall for the project. The road base grade is currently being brought up to final grade. The contractor will also begin installation of the proposed storm sewer next week and after the holiday.

The City will be rehabbing Cabot Drive, from 12 Mile to 13 Mile Roads and Lewis Drive, from Cabot Drive to Haggerty Road. It will include the milling of the existing concrete road, fixing the existing concrete panel joints and topping the roadways with 3-inches of new asphalt pavement. Project is expected to
start July 15.
Estimated completion date: September 15, 2019
The contractor has several shafts constructed for proposed sanitary manholes along Nine Mile which has choked the roadway down to one lane in several areas. Area residents and motorists need to use caution when driving in these areas. Construction of the storm sewer network at Nine Mile and Garfield Roads has also begun which further complicates movement of vehicles in that area. Open cut sections, west of Garfield Road, are expected to begin in late June.

The City will be performing rehab on 30+ storm sewer manholes located within the South Lake Drive roadway from 13 Mile Road to West Park Drive. No detours will be used, but motorists can expect delays as the contractor moves along the roadway. Project is now expected to
start July 8.
Estimated completion date: August 15, 2019
The City will be doing preventative maintenance on three roadway bridges located on West Park Drive, between 12 Mile and West Road; Meadowbrook Road, between Chattman Drive and Nine Mile Road; and Cranbrooke Drive, between 10 Mile and Village Wood Road. Project is expected to
start September 1.
Estimated completion date: November 1, 2019
The City will be upgrading the traffic signals at 14 Mile and Haggerty Roads and Pontiac Trail and Beck Road. Each intersection will be retrofitted with new mast arms and LED signal heads. Also all legs will have updated pedestrian facilities to include new sidewalk ramps and push button crosswalk signals. Project is expected to
start July 1.
Estimated completion date: April 1, 2020
Last week, crews were clearing, grading and paving the first layer of the asphalt pathway between Phase 1 and Garfield, Nine Mile Road and southern boardwalk, 10 Mile Road and northern boardwalk. They are also driving piles for both boardwalks, completing the northern boardwalk and continuing to work on the southern boardwalk. Work on the horizon includes completing the drainage at the intersection of Nine Mile and Garfield and continuing to build the southern boardwalk. Overall, we are about five weeks past the original substantial completion date due to the weather.

In August 2012, Novi citizens overwhelmingly passed a road millage allowing for more than $5 million to be used in annual road and pathway investments. Funds will be used to maintain and improve neighborhood (subdivision/side streets) and major municipal roadways (mile roads, Beck Road, etc.), and to make sidewalk and pathway connections.
