Greetings!
BASIS releases BBj® and Barista® version 22.0 and makes them available for download now.
Included in this major release is the update to the most significant functionality added to the BASIS technology stack in the last decade; the latest browser client! The Dynamic Web Client (DWC) is a ground-breaking Java-less client for your mobile, web, and desktop application deployment. Additionally, in version 22.0 is the all-new BASIS License Service (BLS) which replaces the Flexera-based BLM with improved security and OS efficiency. We have selected a few of the other most exciting enhancements found in this release to highlight below.
To immerse yourself in all that the current BASIS technology has to offer and see it in action, come to TechCon22.

BASIS’s Dynamic Web Client was developed in response to the world’s changing mobile, web, and desktop application development requirements. The DWC brings the technological advances of JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS to BBj with better performance, responsive design, and extensibility - all in a lightweight package.
Tremendous progress has been made since BASIS first announced the DWC last year. There are very few unsupported controls standing in the way of your web application development efforts in the DWC. Additional details are available in the BASIS Dynamic Web Client (DWC) Status for your review.

NEW BASIS License Service (BLS)
No more reliance on a third-party licensing solution, no more one-size-fits-all! More efficient use of OS resources - fewer socket ports and processes. More secure - client certificate authenticates a connection. Additional licensing metrics are now available for administrators to assess their system’s health and performance.
The BLS replaces the BASIS License Manager (BLM), which was built upon the third-party Flexera licensing solutions. To review how the BLS is different from the BLM including its new features, and enhanced security, see https://doc.basis.com/bls.

NEW Authentication Tokens
Security Improvements - Support for JSON Web Tokens (JWT) has been added for authentication tokens that can be used in lieu of a user/password combination so that passwords no longer remain in memory, are not passed around between programs or stored in configuration files. These tokens improve security and are unique to a specific BBjServices installation to ensure their integrity.

NEW Human Readable Export
of Data Dictionary
Provides the ability to export various database objects including tables, views, SPROCs, etc. Users may export individual objects or the entire database. Currently supported formats include a series of linked HTML pages (human-readable) and SQL Script (SQL CREATE XXX statements in a MySQL-compatible format).

Replication Improvements
BASIS’ replication feature now handles encrypted tables without explicitly specifying the encryption string when it's part of the data dictionary configuration. This new capability was in response to a partner’s request and it benefits all users of this powerful feature included with your SAM coverage.

Improved UI in Enterprise Manager
New status icons have been added to Enterprise Manager's database table grid, making it easy to tell at a glance which tables have been analyzed, have a FULLTEXT index, are encrypted, have a critical issue, etc.

Huge Performance Benefit to Your Barista-Based App
Custom Query Optimization
BASIS introduces a significant speed-enhancing optimization when using custom queries. Barista now limits the column’s attributes gathering process to only include the columns defined in the custom query, greatly enhancing the presentation response time. Querying data from tables involving a significant number of columns can now result in over an order of magnitude in performance gains.
