AGC Government Affairs Update

The MN Legislature will convene on Monday for a seventh Special Session this year as Governor Walz extends the state’s peacetime state of emergency for another 30 days. Legislators have been discussing an economic relief package, particularly for businesses and people affected by the recent pause in select industries. Key legislators stated there’s agreement on at least a $216.5 million financial assistance package, which would come out of the General Fund. Disagreement remains on the extension of unemployment benefits as of Friday afternoon.

MnDOT Releases Interim CMGC Report

This report is about the Construction Manager/General Contractor method of procurement, referred to as CMGC, and is issued to comply with the requirements of a 2012 MN law. Five projects using CMGC were selected by MnDOT, which triggered this interim report about the department’s experience and evaluation of the CMGC method.

AGC of America Files Suit Against SBA

AGC America filed a lawsuit this week asking the Small Business Administration to be more transparent and ease the process to request forgiveness of a PPP loan. Although AGC of Minnesota is not involved in the suit, we will keep you informed of any significant developments.

OFCCP Releases New Technical Assistance Guide

The Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) is pleased to announce the release of its new technical assistance guide for small contractors.

The guide provides compliance assistance regarding equal employment opportunity obligations for small federal supply and service, construction contractors and subcontractors, as well as and federally assisted construction contractors and subcontractors. The agency considers contractors’ sizes when developing its requirements to consider the burdens on small contractors. Read more

MNOPS Releases Compliance Guidelines

The Minnesota Office of Pipeline Safety has put together the following guidelines for Excavators and Utility Operators with regard to MN Statutes 216D. These regulations ensure worker/public safety as well as protecting underground utility infrastructure. Please take a moment to review the following guidelines for the safety of your employees, the public and important infrastructure.
