Student Ministry Connection
Hey Everybody!
With Valentine's Day soon approaching, love is in the air! One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the love that our youth group has
not only
for each other, but for those outside of their inner circle as well. Love is something we emphasize heavily: Love Always, God Always Loves Us, Jesus Loves You, Love Your Neighbor, the list goes on. My experience with the youth group is one that exemplifies how powerful love can be. After unenrolling from college in my sophomore year, I returned home to explore what I wanted to do with my life (classic college student, I know). Shortly after, I began working as an intern here at FUMCR with Student Ministries where I was welcomed with open arms, not only by the staff, but by the students, too! The culture of love that the youth have cultivated is a beauty to behold.
Through my two years here working with the youth (wow, I'm old), I have had so many great experiences. I've camped for the first time, skied for the first time, removed a gigantic tree stump from a backyard, led worship, dunked on multiple youth playing basketball, and learned some of the weirdest phrases from the youth that I've ever heard. Through their love, these students have inspired me to be the best version of myself.
This youth group has also helped me to discover what I enjoy most: teaching. Currently I am studying to become a science teacher, and this semester I will be student teaching at J.J. Pearce High School. Perhaps I will see some familiar faces....
