From the Principal

As we look forward to the holiday break, it is nice to savor the small moments at Trivium. As a morning carpool worker, I am always refreshed by the way your children hop out of the car, grab their things, and rush to the door. They know good things await them, and they are right. The best gift any educator can receive is a student willing to dive into the day with enthusiasm and joy. While we may get cold, wet, hot, or frazzled, those of us who work carpool are energized by the children we serve. It is a great way to start the day!

We finished football and volleyball seasons with close games last week, and while we did not win, we are grateful for the opportunity our students had to play! Now we move on to basketball for both boys and girls. The choir will perform this week in a taped performance for all to see, and there are a host of other activities to add some normal to our school days. In the meantime, life goes on and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with your students. We thank the parents who are dropping off goodies for our faculty. As always, “It is good to be a Knight.”

Proud to be a Knight,
Marsha Cawthon
Instructional Model Change Form for 3rd Quarter
Due Wednesday, December 16

The window for changing the instructional delivery model for the 3rd quarter is open from December 2-16. Please note that this form should be filled out ONLY if you are making a change to the instructional delivery model for your child(ren). If you would like for them to stay in the same instructional model as the 2nd quarter, there is no need to complete this form.

We plan to offer remote, hybrid, and in-person instruction as long as student numbers support staffing. Currently, the plan for 3rd quarter includes remote instruction being available for K-8th and hybrid being available for K-3rd, 6th, and 7th. However, if there are significant changes in numbers for any of the instructional models, it could result in a model not being offered or teacher changes becoming necessary. Of course, the sooner we know your choice, the easier it will be for us to make a great plan for the students for 3rd Quarter.

Dress-Up Days for Students and Staff
December 14-18
Please note: The dress-up days do not include wearing pajamas/pajama pants. Jeans or uniform bottoms must still be worn.
Curriculum Corner
Second graders in Mrs. Wallace's science class practiced the steps in the scientific method with a fun gummy bear experiment! Students had to make a prediction (hypothesis) about what would happen to the gummy bears as they were immersed in 4 different solutions: 1) plain tap water, 2) salt water, 3) vinegar water, and 4) baking soda water. After students recorded their hypotheses, they observed the reactions, recorded data in their journals, and developed conclusions. It was a "sweet" day in science!
The Showcase
The Trivium secondary choirs are hard at work preparing for the recording of their annual winter concert. While we wish you could see the performance live, we are grateful to have the opportunity to share in the spirit of the season virtually. The concert promises to be a rockin' good time, so be sure to watch for the link to the concert later this week!
Mr. Brookins and the Tenor/Bass Choir practice their choreography for the winter concert.
People Love Us on Yelp!
Trivium Academy was just given the "People Love Us on Yelp" award for our above average score of 4.05 rating. We're very proud of the work we do here with our students, and we always ask ourselves the question, "What is the best thing for the kids?" We consider ourselves a student first school, and it shows. We would love for you to share your love for Trivium on Yelp, too! Great Schools is another site where you could write us a review and share your positive experiences at Trivium. We could all use a little positivity during this difficult time!

Lunch Reminders
Part of being a “closed campus” means we cannot accept food deliveries throughout the day. If you forget to pack your child’s lunch, please drop the lunch on the front porch on the designated lunch cart by 11am. Please label with your child’s name. We will not be accepting lunches at the door to prevent additional exposure to the school. We will be pulling lunches at 10:35am and 11:00am. Please plan accordingly. And please remember that if you come to campus to pick up your child, you must also have a mask on to come to the door. We are following all precautions we can to keep our campus safe, and we appreciate your help with this.
Carpool Reminders
  • Please follow the correct path, and watch for people walking through the parking lots to enter our building and our neighbor's building.
  • Place car in park and wait for a carpool worker to signal you to move.
  • Absolutely NO cell phone use in car line.
  • Do not get out of your car or signal to your child to come to your car without an adult.
  • When your child is loaded, please pull your tag down to signal you are ready to go.
  • Do not wait to turn left at the exit light. The creates a backup in the line.
  • Please visit this link for complete carpool instructions and map:
Daily Health Check-In
We are now using Dr. Owl for the mandatory daily health checks. Please click the link below, scan the QR code, or download the Dr. Owl app on your phone to complete the daily health check-in before students arrive on campus each day.

COVID-19 Response
Anytime that we post a notice of a confirmed case on campus, we understandably get a number of questions. We can't disclose any information about the infected individual or other students who are quarantined due to privacy laws, so it often makes those questions difficult to answer. What we can provide is some general information that may help though.

We follow the Denton County Health Department's protocols regarding close contact and quarantine anyone whom we believe to have been within six feet of the infected individual for more than 15 minutes. Our teachers are doing a great job of keeping the students as far apart as possible, but unfortunately, our rooms are not large enough to keep everyone six feet apart at all times. Because of this, it would be unlikely for a whole class to need to quarantine, but it can result in a few students seated near an individual who tests positive to need to quarantine as a precaution.

Thank you for your continued support as we work daily to keep our Knights learning and healthy!
