Work Continues in the Colvin Run and Difficult Run Area
As part of the improvements along Route 7, we'll be replacing and raising the Difficult Run bridge and shifting Colvin Run to the south to accommodate the third lane on eastbound Route 7. Construction activities in the Colvin Run and Difficult Run area and along Carpers Farm Way will be ongoing, with new work scheduled to begin in late June/early July. Crews will be working within the VDOT right of way and where rights have been acquired from property owners.

The work is being done under the permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers , the Virginia Marine Resources Commission, and the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality . Erosion and sediment (E & S) controls will be in place and wetland areas will be clearly delineated. The project's Environmental Compliance Specialist monitors E & S controls daily, with project-wide inspections occurring twice weekly.

In Case You Missed It
Starting on or about Friday, June 26, drivers can expect lane shifts on eastbound Route 7, temporary traffic pattern changes, and detours on some neighborhood streets between Baron Cameron Avenue and Carpers Farm Way. Work will occur during the daytime and overnight hours. All homes, businesses, and public facilities will remain accessible via posted detour routes. Click here for details.

Drivers will experience a new traffic pattern at the east entrance to McLean Bible Church starting on or about Monday, June 29. Click here for details.

Additional lane shifts and traffic pattern changes will take place in July. We'll send out a traffic alert with detailed information prior to the changes.
Thanks for Giving Our Crews S P A C E
