O
z, we're holding a unique workshop where students can play WITCHEVER PARTS THEY WANT in a fun 30 minute final product of The Wizard of Oz that will be a very shortened version of the classic film. It will be non-musical except for some sing-a-long parts with the audience. At the end of the presentation, the entire cast will sing a medley of songs from the film.
All levels of experience welcome. We are looking for students who read well, for their age, and who have good focus and following direction skills.
We will have some fun set decorations to set the scene as well as simple costume pieces that will help create the look of the characters.

SOME OF
THE
MANY
BENEFITS:
You only need t
o be
available for one day!
Excellent experience for each student to play several roles, using different character voices and learning how to insert aspects of his/her own personality into each character played.
Learn to take direction from our 29 year veteran director, Andy Diskes, as well as practice the art
of following instructions and staying focused.
Brush up on reading skills as the students read aloud off of old-fashioned cue-cards. (No memorization needed but students should be able to read well for their age from about ten feet away.)
Interact with various personalities in the group, learn to work as a team as well as learning when it's OK to be the center of attention and when it's time to step back for others to take center stage.
Gain valuable experience performing and speaking in front of an audience as well as learning to feel comfortable expressing oneself.
All of these skills will be very helpful when it comes to auditioning for roles especially if it is a 'cold reading' (without preparation).
