Happy 2020 to all,

The decade in which our current Broncos have grown has flown by with lots of changes.  Technology has evolved so rapidly which has really changed the way we communicate, teach, learn, view TV & movies, listen to music, purchase almost anything online, and so much more.   I'm both excited and a little scared to see where all of this will go in the next ten years!

We are quickly approaching the time when we start our transition process for the next group of rising 6 th grade students coming from our three feeder schools (Huntersville, Cornelius, and J.V. Washam).  The flyer for the events that will be held for 5 th grade parents and kids from our feeders starting in February will be published in next week's edition.  Please note that we have two open school tours every month and the next few are on January 15, January 29, February 12, and February 26.

HUGE CONGRATS to the following students for placing in the CMS Dr. Martin Luther King Art & Writing Contest: Abigail Brown- 1 st Place in Middle School Writing and Lucy Manfredi- 2 nd Place in Middle School Art.

Lighthouse Recognition Status

Our school will be seeking "Lighthouse Recognition Status" for the work we have done with Leader In Me over the past 4-5 years. Only a few hundred schools in the world have attained this recognition, most of which are elementary schools.  We completed a mock evaluation before the break which showed that we have almost all of the pieces in place to join this elite group of schools later this year.
In order to do so, we need to establish a Parent Lighthouse Team in January.  This group of parents should be those who currently use some or all of the 7 Habits with their kids at home and wish to help guide other families to do the same.  If you are interested in serving on this team, please send Mr. Thomas an email by Friday, January 17.

School Fundraiser Piggy Bank
Looking for a new year giving opportunity? Want to make a difference at Bailey Middle School? Consider making a contribution to The Bronco Fund!

The Bronco Fund is Bailey's direct giving campaign.  That means  100% of your donation stays at Bailey.  Your gift to The Bronco Fund is 100% tax deductible and is a great way to help fund school programs and services not included in the CMS budget including: classroom and academic support, school programs (student recognition, grade level celebrations, etc.), special events (back to school picnic, family involvement week, etc.), school beautification, and technology . Because of the past generosity of families like yours, The Bronco Fund has been able to provide this support - and more -  to our OUTSTANDING school community.

You can also DOUBLE your donation to the Bronco Fund!
How? Your employer may offer a match that will amount in DOUBLE the donation to BAILEY MIDDLE SCHOOL!

International Night

International Night
Bailey Middle School's annual "International Night" is scheduled for Thursday evening, February 20th. This annual event showcases and celebrates the diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds of the families at our school. This event is a great way to introduce Bailey students and their families to customs and traditions from all over the world. Every year the event gets bigger and better!

We are looking for parents and students to volunteer as ambassadors for their country/region by decorating a booth, dressing in traditional clothing, and sharing art, food, music, games, etc. Bailey will provide the tables for the booths.
As an incentive to volunteer, students that participate with their families by setting up a booth will receive extra credit (bonus points) in their choice of subject. Students that attend the event and get their passport stamped will receive extra credit in Social Studies.

Contact  Karey Sweetman for more information and to sign up for a booth,   click here.

Hello 6th Grade Parents,

Thank you so much for your feedback and participation in last month's Coffee with Counselor session.  For those of you who were unable to attend, a copy of the PowerPoint Presentation is posted on our Counseling Website under the title 'Middle School 101'.  There are several links and web addresses embedded throughout the presentation.  I recommend you save this in your email so you can reference them again.  I hope all of our families have a Safe and Happy Winter Break!

A Winter Night of the Arts

Come join us for a Night of the Arts on January 14th from 5:30-8:00 pm!

Our Honors Art students will be putting their art on display in the Cafeteria with performances by our 8th grade Drama students.

Honors 8th Grade Drama will be performing student-written 10 minute plays at 6PM.
The Zombie Nightmare by Samantha VanDyke, Rund Faraj, and Ava Gossett
The Christmas Mystery by Sammy Knight and Anne Arms
Hank and Lance, On the Case by Taylor Shiley
Fresh Air by Ainsley Young
Beware the Sauce-Man by Nick Ruggerio, Omar Mercado Rodriguez, Owen Seeber, and Ben Lowe

Our other awesome 8th Grade Drama Class will be performing The Secret Lives of Toads by D.W. Gregory at 7PM.
Poor Harvey faces his first day at a brand new school, where things look none too inviting. The cool kids have staked out their territory on the playground, and there's no room in their cliques for nerds or dweebs or other kids with weird attitudes. When Harvey befriends these luckless souls, he is suddenly thrust into the middle of a simmering feud between them and the snootiest girl in school. Meanwhile, the frogs have their own ideas about what it means to feel stuck. The excitement peaks in the science lab, when frogs and kids find themselves thrown together on the wrong side of a locked door.

Tickets go on sale online on Jan. 6th at www.bmspabc.weebly.com . Tickets will, also, be on sale at the night of the performan ces. Cost is $2 for students and $4 for adults (this is a fundraiser for supplies for our Art and Drama programs). There will also be raffle items at the show, including Disney Park Hopper Passes.

We need lots of volunteers and donations to make these events a success, so if you can help, we would appreciate it so much!
