A cornerstone of business: Mr. B, as you might imagine, does not last long at jobs. He’s thankful for Colby Waldrop, the senior branch manager for Cornerstone Staffing, who previously has found Mr. B newsletter opportunities with morticians, mimes and Malbec wines. Colby says Cornerstone has been staffing much different industries these days (hint to B: don’t go needing a job right now), showing off his team’s agility and ability. “We have heavily helped support critical needs and have provided creative solutions in a variety of industries to keep Fort Worth working. Everything from the mortgage processing boom, healthcare support, all the way to disinfecting workspaces and providing temperature checkers.” Colby sent over a $50 Joe T. Garcia's gift card to further support Fort Worth workers.
Cookie love: More than 10, but fewer than 20 years ago, Mr. B was envious of Wendy Odenbach, who was smart, energetic and passionate about non-profit work. She had a future! Today, Mr. B remains envious of Wendy Odenbach Lee. She is the Major Gifts Officer of Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains and one of the perks of the job is all you can eat. Mr. B asked for a box of Thin Mints or Peanut Butter Sandwich to tide him over an hour one day. “No,” she said. “I only can share if you innovate a new cookie for us to sell.” Mr. B thought and went into the kitchen to test and voila…a white chocolate covered grilled cheese & bacon cookie. Unfortunately, it wasn’t considered and Mr. B’s cookie jar only has crumbs. Fortunately, Wendy sent over a dozen boxes of assorted Girl Scout cookies.
The Right Stuff: John Wright, owner of Simple Leadership Strategies, is so big that he has his own table at Panera Bread. Big, and getting bigger, as two large corporate contracts are about to be signed. So, you’d better get to John now, while he still has time for B2B Insider . Listen to this endorsement from TD Smyers, former CEO at United Way of Tarrant County : “We chose John to shape our group of managers into a cohesive team of capable, developing leaders. I've led at the executive level for most of my adult life … John's program is absolutely the best I've come across . It's practical and ‘sticky’ - leaving the classroom and making a real difference in the lives of our people ...” John says he transforms customers into advocates, work groups into teams, employees into partners, and managers into leaders. Maybe he can customize a one-hour session for your team, too.
Congratulations to the June 17th

HE SAID, SHE SAID, THEY SAID
The real Boss B : Mr. B’s mum turns 91 today and mostly she just mum B les and grum B les. If you want to wish her a Happy Mr. B-day and tell her how disrespectful her son is, click here.
Playing house: Numerous residential realtors have said it’s busy, but none said it better than Lezah Claussen of Ebby Halliday -- “It’s April in June!
Orange you glad you read? With orange décor everywhere, Locavore is offering “Little Cuties” baby shower packages. Included is a MoMosa Bar. Mr. B asked Locavore’s Cortney Gumbleton for a Little Cuties giveaway and she said, “Sure, if someone gives away a baby.”
Feeling static? Workplace Resource Group (W|R|G), which offers business furniture and design, has entered the disinfection services area with electrostatic sanitization for office, school or facility.
Stand in line: Ruben Cruz has been promoted to retail director at Goodwill Industries of Fort Worth. Why is this important, B? Well, it means he gets first shot at everything that comes in the door.
“If the apocalypse comes, there's still going to be bugs.”

Neighborly: Dr. Kyle McGregor had been Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Tarleton State University. Next week, he moves in across the street (I-30) from the B Mansion to lead National Farm Life Insurance Company and American Farm Life Insurance Company from the President’s perch. He adds the CEO title in January. The good doc has served on the company’s Board of Directors since 2009.
Dream quote for promoting Fort Worth: Holy cow, Fort Worth. This from Petal CEO David Taffet, a May arrival: “We conducted a nationwide search and we could not be any more pleased with our decision to make Fort Worth our home. Fort Worth is at the center of all transportation routes – air, rail and highway -- and it is the heart of hospitality. With its central location, diverse and talented workforce, and fast-growing economy, Fort Worth suits Petal perfectly.”
Earth Day every day: Married for 20 years, divorced almost 10, and the Mittermeiers still are working together fabulously. Cristina Mittermeier and Dr. Russell A. Mittermeier are recipients of the 2020 International Award of Excellence in Conservation from The Botanical Research Institute of Texas. They will be saluted October 22 at Palmwood Event & Conference. They have devoted their lives to protecting the Earth’s natural habitat and informing and influencing people of the delicate balance between nature and traditional cultures.
Charles in Charge: The Charles Schwab Challenge has a new tournament chairman beginning in 2021. Jim (no relation to Mitch) Whitten, a volunteer leader focusing on player relations, replaces Rob Hood. Whitten owns a commercial real estate company and is a 28-year member of Colonial Country Club.
