Dear Community,

This month marks for me the completion of 10 years as Superintendent of the North Penn School District (NPSD). Throughout this decade, I have strived to always make North Penn greater, because we can never honestly say we are the absolute best at every single thing we do. From weathering blizzards and hurricanes, to increasing everyone's safety and well-being through specific security measures and student programming, to working toward excellence and equity, I believe NPSD is stronger than ever. This is due to collaboration among staff, students, families, the school board and the community that supports everything we do.

Our work is never done, however, and we are poised to begin another endeavor to correct a problem that has burdened this community for decades. In June, we will commence work to renovate Crawford Stadium with a completion date set for June 2021, before commencement. Major improvements are needed to make the stands handicapped accessible, the bathrooms capable of servicing thousands of visitors and the field usable as we change it from grass to turf. For many years now, the soil conditions of the field have been such that it is often not even used by our teams, forcing us to use neighboring facilities. A new turf field will allow more teams and community groups to use Crawford Stadium.

When renovations are complete, Crawford Stadium will be the home field for football, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls track, boys and girls lacrosse, unified track and the Marching Knights, and is an outdoor classroom for physical education classes and where IronKnights Triathlon takes place. It is where commencement is celebrated year in and year out. Once renovations are completed it can also host outside youth athletic tournaments and other events for this deserving community.

Please join me in supporting this Stadium for the Future, Crawford Stadium, as we build our legacy together. On Friday, April 24 we will hold U-Knight to Celebrate, a gala featuring guest speaker Brandon McManus, NPHS class of 2009, Denver Bronco and Super Bowl Champion. The special event will take place at 6:30 p.m. and will include entertainment and a silent auction. Items up for grabs that night include exciting vacations and sports memorabilia. Proceeds from the event will support the stadium project.

In addition, Brandon is inviting North Penn students to join him at the Brandon McManus KIckball Tournament on Saturday morning, April 25, at NPHS. The day will feature games by grade level and a home run derby. It is sure to be a great day for families.

To learn more about our efforts and these upcoming events, visit the NPSD Educational Foundation's website. Here, you can purchase tickets to the gala and register for the kickball tournament as well as purchase sponsorship opportunities for both events.

Sincerely,

Curtis R. Dietrich, Ed.D.

Beginning in January 2020, all worksession and action meetings of the NPSD Board of School Directors will now begin at 7:00 pm.

Snow is bound to hit NPSD this winter! When the weather outside is frightful, NPSD Superintendent Dr. Curt Dietrich is very busy consulting with various school district departments, other school districts and weather outlets to assess conditions and whether school needs to be delayed, dismissed or cancelled. It is not an easy job.

On snowy mornings, Dr. Dietrich (if he sleeps at all) is awake for a conference call before 5 am. It is NPSD's hope that school delays and closings will be decided and posted via district communication channels by 5:30 am. In some challenging situations, that may not happen but the decision is always made as soon as possible.

Dr. Dietrich Joins Pennsylvania Public School Superintendents in Call for Charter Reform
