Volunteers Sought for Project at Camp Hanover
POJ's Disaster Relief Ministry is keeping busy close to home these days. After completing a bridge and boardwalk at Camp Hanover this fall, they next plan to remove downed trees on the property. Moderator Brown Pearson is seeking volunteers to help. The project will start Wednesday, November 4, at 8:30 a.m. and continue to Thursday. Tractors and chain saws appreciated. To volunteer or find out more info, email ministry leader Brown Pearson or call him at 804-347-8895.
Resources Available From Leadership Event
On October 24, members of the Ministry Collaborative, a project of the Macedonian Ministry Foundation, led an online event for congregational leaders in Presbytery of the James. During this event, participants explored the challenges of 2020 and ways they can make ministry whole-hearted under extraordinary circumstances. A recording and slides are available if you wish to view again or were not able to attend the live event.
Learn About Civil Initiative and the Engaged Church Through Online Course
An online course in November will introduce basic principles to help church communities to engage in civic life. The principled and theologically-grounded curriculum, built around the thinking of Quaker philosopher Jim Corbett (1933-2001), supports the Matthew 25 vision by nurturing congregations in responding to entrenched systems of oppression in creative and liberating ways.
