Midterm Examinations
  • Tuesday, January 14: English and Mathematics
  • Wednesday, January 15: Theology and Science
  • Thursday, January 16: Social Studies, Foreign Language, and Psychology
Should snow cause a cancellation on an exam day, Friday, January 17, will be the first snow make-up day, and Monday, January 20, will be the second. Students who are sick for any exam day(s) will be asked to make up their exams on Friday, January 17 and/or Monday, January 20.

Students, see the Midterm Schedule here.

Freshmen and sophomores can use this document to guide their midterm preparations--all teachers have contributed advice for how and what to study.

Breakfast before Midterms
The cafeteria will sell breakfast and coffee on midterm days from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.

Cotillion
The Cotillion Dance will be held on February 8, and we need parent volunteers for coat check, food and drinks, and general presence. Please contact Sister Susan to volunteer at (717) 761-1116 (ext. 109).

Reminder: dresses must be, at most, no shorter than two to three inches above the knee. They must cover front and most of the back. If there is a question, email Sister a picture, and she will get back to you.

Junior Achievement--Volunteers Needed
Trinity is working with Junior Achievement to bring a day of STEM activities to our students. We are in need of adult volunteers to facilitate engaging activities. Volunteers will receive training the day of the event, as well as breakfast and lunch. Join us on March 17, from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sign up here.

Computer Applications Exemption
The Computer Applications exemption test will be administered in three sections, on January 22, 23, and 24, from 2:45 to 3:30 p.m. Students will be given 45 minutes to complete each section. The items covered are chosen to test for the bare minimum of competency with three Microsoft Office 2013® applications--Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The first test will be in Excel, then Word, and finally PowerPoint. The scores for the sections are not cumulative--a failure in one section constitutes a failure for the exemption exam, and students will not continue the testing. Students may sign up in their Applications class, or by emailing Miss Kiker. This is the last exemption test of the year.

THON Chaperones Needed
Adult help is needed to make our THON a success-- join us at any point from Friday, February 14, at 7:00 p.m. to Saturday, February 15, at 10:00 a.m. Clearances are required to volunteer (if you do not have clearances, you can start the process here. Economics Opportunity
Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week (PFEW) is an award-winning, week-long summer economics education program offered to current high school sophomores and juniors throughout Pennsylvania. It is an exciting, team-based program that teaches students to understand and celebrate the American free enterprise system by introducing them to the inner workings of modern 21st century business. PFEW helps students develop critical skills in communication, leadership, time management, problem solving, and team building, all while improving their self-esteem and confidence. The PFEW program provides students with opportunities to assess interests, build skills, and identify and explore careers in an interactive, hands-on setting. Interested students can pick up an application from Mrs. Scholz in Room 110 or from Mrs. Stock in the Guidance Office, or they may apply online. The early bird deadline is March 2, and the final deadline is May 1. Our students have been offered a special discount--$150 instead of $295. Spiritual Life
Gospel for Sunday, January 5, 2020--The Feast of the Epiphany
Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. John tried to prevent him, saying, “I need to be baptized by you, and yet you are coming to me?” Jesus said to him in reply,
“Allow it now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed him. After Jesus was baptized, he came up from the water and behold, the heavens were opened for him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”--Matthew 3:13-17

Reflection
In today’s Gospel, John recognizes his own place by stating, “I need to be baptized by you, and
yet you are coming to me?” Too often, we place our wants and desires ahead of God’s plan for
our lives. We become filled with ego and selfish desires. As we contemplate the words of John
today, let us ask God to help us understand our place in His plan. May He give us hearts that are
open to His will in our lives.
Saint of the Week- - Saint Gregory Nazianzen January 14
Saint Gregory Nazianzen paid a huge price for his faith. In conflict with the Emperor, Valens, who defended the Arians, Saint Gregory worked hard to defend the Catholic faith. Toward the end of his life, Saint Gregory gained some peace and quiet as he gardened and wrote religious poetry.
For more information on saints, visit Franciscan Media's Saint of the Day website .
Prayer
Heavenly Father--Too often we tell You what we want, what we need, and when we need it. Help us to learn that You know better than we do what we truly need to live with joy. Give us the grace to be open to Your Word working in our lives. Amen.
