We wait. We hope. We prepare. We are entering a short season of preparation-The Season of Advent. Observing Advent means giving a measure of yourself to prepare the heart and soul to encounter the mind-boggling miracle of God's incarnation.
During Advent, our church tradition calls us to notice the difference between the clatter and clamor of "Christmas" in popular culture and the church's way of reflective stillness. The church marks this short season as a holy time to be sill and attentive to our relationships and behaviors. In stillness, we see our need and the world's need for healing, and we acknowledge our longing for the salvation of God's presence. We wait. We hope. We prepare.
The church invites you now, as we do in Lent, to observe the Season of Advent by acts of personal prayer, attentiveness, and corporate worship. To support your observance, the parish offers a range of opportunities for reflection and learning apart from our liturgies of worship.

THE SEASON OF ADVENT
Location: The Chapel
Each Sunday of Advent, Fr. Jenkins will tell a biblical story that ground us in this season of preparation and will lead a period of reflection on the story. This is very similar to the theological preparation the children are receiving in Godly Play. Come and see. Each week the story will grow, but always we will begin at the beginning. This experience will help you prepare to rejoice at the coming celebration of the incarnation at Christmastide. Inquiries, contact Fr. Jenkins.

CHILDREN AGES -- Ages 8-11 or Grades 3 - 5
|
WEAVING GOD'S PROMISES
Location: The First Classroom in CMC
Our bigger children will immerse themselves in an Episcopal formation experience rooted in the stories of our faith as presented in John's Gospel. In this second of a three-year cycle, our children focus on stories of individual encounters with Jesus, transformation in God's love, and the saints of the church. Our theme in this curriculum year is "Once we were no people, but now we are God's people." Every session incorporates theology and history from our Episcopal-Anglican perspective. Questions? Contact
Coleman Graham
or
Fr. Jenkins.

|
GODLY PLAY
Location: The Godly Play Room
We take children and their relationship with God seriously and seek to provide both space to foster encounters with God and the language necessary to make meaning of those experiences. Within the Godly Play classroom, the Biblical narrative is lovingly presented to children using beautiful materials with an invitation to step into each story with awe and wonder. Children are then allowed time to respond to and reflect on their experience of the story.
