UCSFwpa Wireless Certificate Update

UCSF Central IT is updating the security certificate for UCSFwpa wireless network on Thursday, April 21st 2022 at 5:00 PM. The wireless certificate configuration change should be seamless to end-users and not cause any interruption at the time of installation.

If you experience any issues or loss of connectivity, please follow the procedure below to get reconnected.

Accept the new certificate if prompted and follow the steps specific to your device (Mac/PC).
If you are not prompted for the new certificate, select UCSFwpa network on the wireless networks available and click “connect” to get back online.

Please contact the IT Service Desk at 628-206-5126 with any questions or comments.

For Windows devices, workstations, WOWs, find UCSFwpa network and click "Connect".

For Mac users, when prompted to "Verify Certificate" click "Continue".

DEM TB Testing

TB Testing is required annually for all UCSF staff and faculty at ZSFG as a ZSFG Occupational Health Services policy, regardless of your clinical activity. If you spend any time on the ZSFG campus, you will be required to complete the annual TB screening.

Dates: Monday, April 25, 2022 (first visit) and April 27, 2022 (return visit)

Time: 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Location: Building 3, Room 501

Update: Building 3 Vendor and Guest Access

We received notice that perimeter doors will not be unlocked moving forward because of the increased campus security benefits.When you have a vendor or guest coming onsite, please utilize the following workflow:

Give your direct contact number to your vendor or guest.
Tell Meredith when you are expecting a vendor or guest
When your vendor or guests arrive, they should contact you directly so that you can go down to bring them into the building and up the elevator.

UCSF Non-Employee Guest Policy

Non-UCSF guests (individuals that are not UCSF faculty, staff and learners including vendor staff) must be fully vaccinated to attend or support an in-person meeting or event. Non-UCSF guests/attendees require visitor approval before arriving on campus. Event planners should obtain such approval at least one week prior to the event date.

Non-employee guests may continue to attend UCSF events—on or off site—for the following purposes:

To preserve the safety of a patient or research subject; or
To preserve the results of a research activity (e.g., research monitoring or equipment repair); or
To permit interview and related, limited activities involving final candidates for UCSF positions; or
To meet a graduation requirement for students/trainees;
Participate in a UCSF-approved meeting, event, or activity

Either the guest or the UCSF host can apply for approval by going completing the Pandemic Guest Approval to Enter Campus Form. This applies to all campus indoor and outdoor meetings at UCSF campus facilities and UCSF-sponsored off-site events.

DOM Call for Artists in the Department

The ZSFG Dept of Medicine is seeking to reveal the power and healing of art in all its forms. They are planning an upcoming ZSFG DOM newsletter to highlight artists in the department. The issue will focus on faculty, staff, and learners engaged in the creation of art that connects to our community. Genres we hope to represent include visual art, music, theatre, dance, photo/video, literary, and decorative. Please use this link to nominate yourself or your colleagues.

WINGS Staff Development Grant Program

The School of Medicine is committed to employee career growth and development and to supporting educational activities for our staff. If you are a staff employee in the School of Medicine, you are eligible to apply for a grant to support the cost of a course or other educational opportunity.

The next application deadline for the WINGS Staff Development Grant Program is May 6, 2022. Applications will cover classes starting on May 15, 2022, running through and including August 31, 2022. Grant amounts range between $200-$400, depending on the number of applications received for the grant cycle.

UCSF COVID-19 Policy Updates

On April 1, UCSF removed the masking requirements for the campus – it will remain in place for clinical/hospital settings. However, since we are based at ZSFG, our actions must align with SFDPH policies. Masks must still be worn when onsite at ZSFG.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Resource

To be anti-racist, don’t confuse character for accountability

The COVID-19 pandemic and continued murders of unarmed Black people in the U.S. have produced widespread outcry against structural racism. But outcry is not enough.

To truly be anti-racist, we need to stop using character as a substitute for accountability. They are not the same. Accountability is a process to ensure that each action promotes equity and beneficence. Character shapes what actions are taken, including how accountability is navigated.
